How Clingy Each Personality Type Tends To Be

It isn’t the most enjoyable topic to discuss, since nobody wants to admit to being clingy. Even the most well-adjusted individuals can have their moments of neediness. Here is how clingy each personality type is most likely to be.

INFJ

INFJs are introverted individuals, which means that they do need time to be alone. They enjoy having space in a relationship, but only in the physical sense. When an INFJ is close to someone or loves someone deeply, they will think about them often. Even during those times that they are away from the people they care for, they will still be on their minds constantly. INFJs do not connect deeply with people easily, and once they do they take those bonds very seriously. If they care for someone they will want to be close to them emotionally, which can sometimes appear clingy to people. They simply want to connect with the people they love, and will attempt to do that in any way possible.

ENFJ

ENFJs have a tendency to be considered hovering when it comes to the people they love. They simply want to do everything they can to make others happy, but this can sometimes be seen as clingy. They enjoy their time alone, but more than anything they want to be supportive of their loved ones. ENFJs enjoy being around people, and will often work hard to be everything to the people they love. They enjoy being needed by others, but this can sometimes make them seem like they are a tad clingy. This only happens with people they care about the most, and they will probably even appear to avoid people that aren’t very close to them.

INFP

INFPs like to have plenty of time alone, which means they do enjoy their space. When it comes to close relationships though, INFPs enjoy being around their loved ones. They often enjoy spending time together in silence, just enjoying each others company. INFPs value real and deep connections, which means they hold their relationships very close to them. They can sometimes appear clingy, since they enjoy diving into a deeper connection with their loved ones. They will often strive to understand these people as best as they can, drawing themselves as close as possible to them.

ENFP

ENFPs are outgoing and enthusiastic people, who give very much to others. When ENFPs care about someone, they can be a bit clingy towards them. They enjoy receiving a lot of attention from the people that they love the most, and might feel like they aren’t getting enough of it. ENFPs care about people, but the ones closest to them are very special in their eyes. They want their loved ones to give them attention and be supportive of them, and they will do the same in return. They will often shower people with affection and love, and simply want to feel this from those people as well.

INTJ

INTJs are extremely independent people and are highly unlikely to become clingy in a relationship. They enjoy their space more than anything, and would prefer plenty of time alone. INTJs do enjoy spending time with their loved ones of course, but require plenty of space to thrive. When they are alone they will often be thinking about the people they love and different ways to better their relationships. INTJs simply do not require constant attention or affection in order to feel close to someone. They will often dislike if someone is doting on them, and might even become frustrated with needy people. They truly need time on their own, and really don’t require attention from others in order to feel satisfied.

ENTJ

ENTJs are definitely not clingy individuals, and often need space in their relationships. They are constantly working to reach their goals, and desire people who can help them do that. ENTJs want to work together with their loved ones, in order to grow and make changes to their lives. They are not the type of people who will be clingy, and do definitely enjoy having space. ENTJs value trust as well, which often means they want someone that doesn’t feel the need to constantly check up on them. They do desire a close connection with the people in their lives, and will enjoy spending time with them but they are certainly not clingy.

INTP

INTPs are very independent and introverted individuals, who require plenty of time alone. They will often enjoy spending hours by themselves just thinking through the different ideas inside of their minds. They are some of the least likely people to ever be clingy, and might even find it easy to alienate themselves from others. INTPs enjoy plenty of time alone, and will often become irritated with people who attempt to cling to them. They enjoy their independence, and simply want to have time on their own to breathe. That doesn’t mean they aren’t thinking about their loved ones often, they simply don’t require constant attention in order to feel satisfied.

ENTP

ENTPs enjoy being independent and being allowed to push past different boundaries. They want life to be exciting and are always looking for a new challenge. They usually dislike if their romantic partner is being too clingy, and might become quickly agitated by this sort of behavior. ENTPs do however enjoy receiving attention from their loved ones, they just don’t need it on a constant basis. They might have occasions where they appear clingy, since they are attempting to get the affection that they desire. In most cases though, ENTPs truly aren’t clingy people and will understand when someone else requires space.

ISTJ

ISTJs are very independent people, who enjoy having plenty of time to themselves. They value their close relationships very much and do enjoy spending time with the people they love. ISTJs are definitely not clingy individuals, and will rarely demand a lot of attention from others. They want to be close to their loved ones, but also value the importance of space. They usually understand when other people need time to themselves, because they need plenty of alone time themselves.

ESTJ

ESTJs are hard-working people who value efficiency from their loved ones. They will often be seen as pushy people, and can sometimes come across as clingy because of this. They want to give and receive affirmations from their loved ones, and might demand attention from time to time. ESTJs aren’t extremely clingy people, they simply want to feel close to the people they love. Sometimes their need to work together and get things done and come across as too much for some more introverted types. ESTJs simply believe in the importance of working as a team and coming together in that way.

ISFJ

ISFJs are constantly worried about their loved ones, which can make them appear clingy sometimes. They truly enjoy spending time alone, but will always be thinking about the people closest to them. ISFJs simply want to be sure that the people they care for are as happy as possible. ISFJs put this responsibility on themselves, and because of this they might be constantly checking up on people. This can cause the ISFJ to appear clingy, since they are always worried about ensuring the happiness of others.

ESFJ

ESFJs value their close relationships very much, and will often work hard to make their loved ones happy. Their need to take care of everyone can sometimes appear to be clingy, even though that is not their intention. ESFJs often enjoy their alone time, especially since their desire to please can leave them feeling drained. The reason ESFJs can sometimes appear clingy is because they are constantly worried about the people they love, and want to do whatever they can to make them happy. This makes them appear hovering more than they would like to admit.

ISTP

ISTPs are extremely independent people, who truly enjoy spending time alone. They will often enjoy spending hours of time by themselves, without any interaction from people. ISTPs are definitely not clingy individuals, since they favor spending time by themselves so much. They will often appear aloof because of their sheer lack of clingy behavior. ISTPs simply do not need constant affection, even from their loves ones.

ESTP

ESTPs can sometimes appear to be clingy, since they want to be liked by the people closest to them. They might be in need of constant validation, and always want to feel loved by the people they care for most. ESTPs enjoy having fun, and dislike staying still for too long. They love going on adventures, but they enjoy taking people along for the ride. This can sometimes make them seem clingy, since they will constantly be trying to force their loved ones to keep them entertained.

ISFP

ISFPs are rather independent people, and they enjoy being alone for long periods of time. Their own inner worlds are so rich, that they often do not need to spend a lot of time with other people. They do have their moments of being clingy though, especially if they desire affection from their loved ones. ISFPs might be very picky about who they let into their worlds, and will often hold on tight to those people.

ESFP

ESFPs definitely enjoy receiving attention and affection from their loved ones. They want to constantly be entertained, which can sometimes make them rather clingy individuals. ESFPs also enjoy making other people smile, and are very caring and giving people. Their need for attention and excitement can sometimes cause them to cling to the people that they love. This can sometimes be frustrating for those people, since ESFPs can be a bit overwhelming sometimes when it comes to their enthusiasm for life.
