Here’s How Much of an Abstract Thinker You Are, Based on Your Personality Type

While some people are more focused on concrete thinking, others are abstract minded. Here is how much of an abstract thinker you are, based on your personality type.

INFJ

INFJs are naturally intuitive people, who possess extremely complex inner minds. While they do prefer to focus on concrete things, they are also very capable of understanding the abstract. INFJs are often contradictory people, which is why we refer to them as paradoxes. While they might appear more reserved and interested in concrete information, they are internally very interested in abstract ideas as well. Their minds are always such unique and rich places, with thoughts and ideas that are hard for most people to truly understand.

ENFJ

While ENFJs are definitely capable of following abstract ideas, they are often more drawn towards concrete thinking. They are highly intuitive and because of this they know what the most logical path should be. While ENFJs enjoy things that they can navigate easily, they still are drawn to the things and ideas that are a bit more complex. ENFJs can definitely be abstract thinkers when they have plenty of free time to be this way. As long as this time isn’t going to take away from their loved ones, the ENFJ will enjoy things that are a bit more abstract.

INFP

INFPs are definitely abstract thinkers, who often enjoy exploring different ideas inside of their minds. The INFP enjoys things that are not concrete because it means there are so many possible outcomes. The things that are stern and have no room for error, and often the things the INFP feels tired of. They want to be around possibilities and enjoy the lack of rules when it comes to abstract thinking. The INFP naturally thinks outside of the box, and enjoys being able to challenge their minds.

ENFP

ENFPs are extremely abstract thinkers, and live most of their life exploring unusual ideas. Their inner minds are often so in depth, that the ENFP can’t fully explain this to others. They enjoy abstract thought, and are often considering possibilities that might seem rather out there to some. The ENFP might not openly express their rather abstract thoughts, but they certainly do have them. For the ENFP it is more about allowing their imaginations to run wild, instead of trying to cage themselves and become something other people expect or desire.

INTJ

While INTJs are capable of abstract thought, they are often more focused on concrete thinking. They don’t enjoy allowing their minds to wander that much, and would much rather look at things that can be proven. INTJs often enjoy being able to learn about as much as they possible can, so they will open themselves up to some abstract ideas. At the same time the INTJ is definitely a concrete thinker, who wants to be able to observe the evidence in order to come to conclusions that are completely proven.

ENTJ

ENTJs are definitely concrete thinkers, who don’t really want to focus on things that are too abstract. While they are capable of following these more abstract ideas, they see little point in it. The ENTJ wants to focus on things that can be proven, instead of things that are wishy washy. They are drawn to facts and evidence, since they want to actually make progress in their lives. ENTJs don’t need to think outside of the box, they are already naturally intuitive people with excellent problem solving skills. They simply want to focus on being as efficient as possible, and too any abstract ideas can stand in the way of that.

INTP

INTPs are definitely abstract thinkers, and enjoy being able to explore new ideas. The way the INTPs mind works often leads them to discovering new things that others would have been too afraid to even consider. They don’t enjoy being bound by things that are concrete, instead they enjoy pushing past those limitations. For the INTP thinking outside of the box comes naturally, and is something they are proficient in. They enjoy abstract ideas that need time and effort to truly and fully uncover. This is why INTPs are often the ones who discover new answers and inventions that most would not think possible.

ENTP

ENTPs are certainly abstract thinkers, since they enjoy exploring different possibilities. ENTPs challenge themselves constantly to push the limits, and dislike standing still for too long. They want to feel free to explore different ideas, even the ones that seem completely insane to others. ENTPs aren’t afraid of taking chances when it comes to exploring new ideas and thoughts, and will use their imaginations to come to unique conclusions. For the ENTP it is about pushing those boundaries and uncovering things that others would never have thought possible.

ISTJ

ISTJs really aren’t abstract thinkers, and are much more focused on concrete ideas. They would rather focus their time and energy into getting things done and often follow proven methods to do this. For the ISTJ it is vital to be efficient, and in order to do this they need to be sure of their next move. ISTJs aren’t interested in exploring the possibilities, instead they want to remain on their steady path. They are driven people who enjoy things that can be proven, and follow the evidence that is in front of them.

ESTJ

ESTJs are not abstract thinkers, instead they are concrete thinkers. They prefer to focus on being as efficient as possible in everything they do, which often requires a proven method. ESTJs want to follow their path and don’t enjoy too many distractions which could hold them back. For the ESTJ thinking of things in abstract ways often feels like a waste of time, where they could be something much more efficient and helpful.

ISFJ

ISFJs aren’t naturally abstract thinkers, since they often prefer more concrete things. ISFJs are very much present in the real world, and enjoy being able to make a difference where they can. They care deeply for their loved ones and want to do their best to provide for them. For the ISFJ to properly tend to the needs of others, they need to be following a more stable and practical path. Their desire for practicality definitely causes the ISFJ to be much less of an abstract thinker.

ESFJ

ESFJs are concrete thinkers and often become frustrated by too many abstract ideas. While they can certainly enjoy listening to their loved ones become passionate about their own abstract ideas, this is mostly because of their desire to please. ESFJs want to make their loved ones happy and they don’t want to waste their time on anything that might stand in the way of that. They enjoy being able to focus on things that are more concrete, instead of become lost in ideas that seem a bit farfetched.

ISTP

ISTPs are capable of abstract thoughts at times, but in truth they are more interested in things that can be proven. While they can think outside of the box from time to time, the ISTP simply does this in order to problem solve what is in front of them. They don’t want to become distracted by things that seem Impractical, instead the ISTP is more interested in the facts that can be proven true.

ESTP

ESTPs aren’t really abstract thinkers, instead they prefer to focus on facts. The ESTP is interested in things that have already been proven, which is why they enjoy researching so much. They want to feel educated and aware of the truth, instead of becoming distracted by ideas that might never become proven. The ESTP is very much present in the real world, and too many abstract ideas can seem a bit foolish to them.

ISFP

ISFPs aren’t often abstract thinkers, but they do have rather vivid imaginations. While they aren’t focused on too many abstract ideas, the ISFP simply enjoy considering their options. They want to feel free to explore different things and enjoy living in the present moment. The ISFP is not focused on abstract thinking but at the same time they aren’t drawn to concrete thought either. They are simply drawn to whatever feels right in the present, and allow their hearts to be their guide.

ESFP

ESFPs are imaginative people but at the same time too many abstract ideas can be annoying for them. They prefer to focus on the present moment and dislike anything that stresses them out. For the ESFP abstract thoughts can be a bit too farfetched and might feel like a waste of their time and energy. They certainly aren’t abstract people, but at the same time they aren’t all that concrete. ESFPs are unique in the fact that they are simply drawn to whatever feels right in the present moment, and this often leads them to exploring things in a different way.
