Awkward ENTP: Why ENTPs Are So Weird

Being called weird or awkward can certainly have negative connections to it, but to some people it can be endearing and sets people apart from being ordinary. Certain personality types can become pegged for being strange, simply because they have unique characteristics which don’t always fit into certain social norms. Of course these traits aren’t only tied to personality types, as anyone can be seen as different or “weird” to those who don’t understand them, or even to those who do. For some it seems to be a common occurrence, as many people see them as weird, especially if they feel awkward around others and have tendencies which express this outwardly.

ENTPs can certainly be labelled as weird or strange, especially when they are younger. They don’t much care about conforming to society and their expectations, and might even enjoy challenging these things. Being someone who is not afraid of pushing the envelope and trying to bend the rules, can make the ENTP stand out as strange or even a bit weird. They rarely respond in the way people expect them to, and this does make people misunderstand their intentions even from a young age. They often have a desire to challenge authority, and question everything in hopes of learning the answers for themselves and with a much more open mind. For the ENTP being someone who is seen as weird isn’t uncommon and it can be hard for them to deal with as a child.

They Challenge Everything

ENTPs have a hard time taking anything for face value and want to analyze and challenge what they see. This can make it hard for people to understand them, feeling like they just want to frustrate those around them. In reality ENTPs just enjoy expanding their knowledge and enjoy being able to think for themselves. They don’t like just accepting things as they are, their minds are not naturally programmed this way. Instead they want to be able to push the boundaries and limits, in order to uncover the truth which can often be hidden within. They want to be capable of seeing beyond the surface and of not being afraid to challenge what they see. For the ENTP this can mean getting into trouble, especially when they are younger. Even as children they might have been viewed as weird, since they likely challenged authority and were capable of looking at things from a much different angle than most. ENTPs see things from so many different points of view, and want to be open to analyzing the possibilities and not just what is obviously right in front of them. While this is something which can make ENTPs incredibly intelligent and imaginative, it can also be something which makes them feel misunderstood. As children they likely are seen as being a problem, or even not learning like everyone else does.

They Have Rich Inner Minds

ENTPs have incredibly rich and imaginative inner minds, which can cause them to become distracted or go off on tangents. Where other people might want to stick to the point, ENTPs enjoy imagining things and envision different potential paths and options. They might go off on rants or want to enter into debates, which some people can find a bit weird or strange. When the ENTP is passionate or excited about something, they can become worked up and energized over it. Not everyone understands or appreciates their thirst for knowledge or their desire to express their passionate side. They do also enjoy pushing buttons just to see where it might lead, and this isn’t always received well by others. They can see the ENTP as being too blunt or even pushy, when in reality they are just trying to learn and understand more about where certain people’s boundaries actually are. For the ENTP sometimes the best way to learn is to debate with someone, or to approach the situation from a fresh angle. It helps them to see all of the sides, and to ultimately analyze in order to figure out what makes the most logical sense in the end.

They Are Dreamers

ENTPs are often logical minded dreamers, who enjoy allowing their thoughts to wander. This combination can be confusing to people, especially since the ENTP doesn’t often like to fit into social norms. Instead, they want to challenge these things, and don’t like being placed into some sort of box. This desire to expand and grow, is part of what makes it so easy for people to label them as weird. They can be misunderstood because of their combination of being so logical, but also inventive and imaginative. ENTPs are complex people who want to keep their options open, or else they can become bored rather easily. Without the freedom and space to explore and continue growing, they become drained. This is not always something people can easily understand about the ENTP, and so those misunderstandings make them seem strange to others.

The Awkward ENTP

ENTPs can certainly be awkward at times, especially when it comes to small-talk situations. While they are often outgoing and can also be rather charming at times, ENTPs aren’t really fans of small-talk or conversations which feel bored to them. They might find themselves wanting to shake things up, needing a way to make the conversation much less draining to endure. If they don’t actively attempt to change the subject, they can behave a bit awkwardly, since their minds are certainly elsewhere. They don’t enjoy having to engage in conversations or situations which feel pointless, especially around people who are shallow and not all that interesting to them. When the ENTP does find a person interesting their awkwardness can come from being a bit intense, and wanting to understand them better. Most of the time they are good at getting around this, and people don’t always notice that they feel or behave awkwardly.
