Awkward ENFP: Why ENFPs Are So Weird

Being called weird or awkward can certainly have negative connections to it, but to some people it can be endearing and sets people apart from being ordinary. Certain personality types can become pegged for being strange, simply because they have unique characteristics which don’t always fit into certain social norms. Of course these traits aren’t only tied to personality types, as anyone can be seen as different or “weird” to those who don’t understand them, or even to those who do. For some it seems to be a common occurrence, as many people see them as weird, especially if they feel awkward around others and have tendencies which express this outwardly.

ENFPs can definitely be labelled as weird or strange, simply because they are different than what people expect. They have their own way of processing and responding to what is around them, and they aren’t afraid of being themselves. ENFPs are unique people, who believe in being authentic and sincere, and this can be the very thing which makes people see them as a bit weird. It can be difficult for the ENFP at times, but as they get older they often become more comfortable with the idea of being seen as different or even unusual by some people. They have a deep need to be themselves and express who they are, not wanting to stray away from what is important to them and their own inner values.

They March to the Beat of Their Own Drum

ENFPs are naturally curious people, with minds that can go off in so many different directions. Being someone who imagines so many different things and ideas, can sometimes make people see them as strange or misunderstand the ENFP because of it. They enjoy allowing their minds to wander, and can come up with incredible creative and unique ideas and patterns. This is something which can seem a bit unrealistic at times, since ENFPs do enjoy envisions things which might not be entirely possible or practical. Instead they like to let their minds run wild a bit, sometimes going off into what seems to be another reality. This gives them a rather different approach to life and people, which can sometimes be seen as unusual. They don’t believe in just following what is expected and sometimes prefer to deviate from the path in front of them. ENFPs want to be free to really explore themselves and the world, wanting to experience things in a unique and special way. For them it is about being truly themselves and being free to explore the curiosity and uniqueness of their own minds. ENFPs don’t like to be controlled or told what to do, and from a young age this can set them apart from others and make them seem strange.

Authenticity is Vital

ENFPs value authenticity and honesty and don’t want to pretend to be something they are not. This makes them stand out, often seeming rather unique and different from others. If the ENFP is inspired or excited by something, they want to show this without holding back. For the ENFP having to fake things or pretend for the sake of someone else, is truly exhausting both emotionally and mentally. They find themselves becoming a shell of who they are, especially if they feel pressure to conform. Naturally the ENFP is open and authentic, and even a bit larger than life because of it. Sometimes their over the top and even dramatic nature can be a lot for people to take in, and so they misunderstand the ENFP or see them as strange. In reality they are romantic hearts who seek to experience passion and excitement in their lives. It is hard for them to be anything other than totally authentic, and this is what they search for in others. This is something which can make them seem strange at times, since the ENFP doesn’t want to avoid certain hobbies or interests just because they aren’t popular. They sometimes find themselves drawn to things which are different, sometimes considered strange by others.

They Are Dreamers

ENFPs are also dreamers with rich and vivid inner worlds, and this can cause them to seem distracted at times. They can seem to be lost in thought, and this certainly causes people to see them as strange at times. They might appear to go somewhere else while they are talking to someone, or struggling to pay attention to one thing at a time. This is because the ENFP inner world is truly complex and filled with so many new ideas and thoughts. They find themselves drawn in different directions, wanting to explore those thoughts and special ideas without reservation. This dreamy nature is definitely something which can cause them to be viewed as weird, especially by people who don’t understand them on a deeper level. In reality the ENFP just has a truly intriguing inner mind and thought process, which keeps them caught up in these incredible ideas and imaginative theories. It causes the ENFP to find their inner mind more enriching at times, not always feeling like they can remain focused on the present moment in the way some people can.

The Awkward ENFP

While ENFPs might be outgoing and friendly people, that doesn’t mean they cannot also be awkward at times. ENFPs can naturally be awkward, but that doesn’t mean it holds them back from enjoying social settings and interacting with others. The ENFPs who learns to embrace their awkward side and doesn’t care so much how people see them, is going to be viewed in a much more charming and endearing light. They are amazing at making friends and connections, especially when they become more comfortable with the awkwardness they might possess at times. This comes from their creative minds which can veer off in different directions, causing them to appear distracted or even confuse people with their randomness. For those who appreciate this it makes the ENFP truly fun and exciting to be around.
