Awkward INTJ: Why INTJs Are So Weird
Being called weird or awkward can certainly have negative connections to it, but to some people, it can be endearing and sets people apart from being ordinary. Certain personality types can become pegged for being strange simply because they have unique characteristics which don’t always fit into certain social norms. Of course, these traits aren’t only tied to personality types, as anyone can be seen as different or “weird” to those who don’t understand them or even to those who do. For some, it seems to be a common occurrence, as many people see them as weird, especially if they feel awkward around others and have tendencies that express this outwardly.
INTJs can certainly find themselves being labeled as weird or strange, but this is often because people don’t get to see beyond the surface. INTJs are a very rare personality type, which makes them much different than the social norm or what people expect to see. They uniquely approach things, which can confuse some people and make them misunderstand where the INTJ is coming from. They are direct people who don’t believe in sugar-coating things or playing games simply for the sake of being liked by others. INTJs also need a lot of alone time, which isn’t always something people understand or appreciate correctly.
A Rare Personality
Being one of the rarest personality types makes the INTJ feel misunderstood fairly often throughout their lives. This often starts from a young age, when the INTJ can feel like adults peg them as weird or unusual and even assume something is wrong with them. This becomes rather unsettling for the young INTJ, who is simply trying to figure out who they are and what makes them see the world so differently from others. They also have a hard time simply following the rules of authority and have an instinct to challenge everything first. They simply believe in being accurate and efficient, and this often means they don’t want to just believe what someone says because they deliver it with an authoritative presence. Instead, the INTJ stands on their own with these choices and wants to take their time to analyze and research the information before believing in it. This is certainly something that sets them apart from others and can make it hard for people to understand them even from a young age. They are hungry for knowledge and truth, always wanting to learn and grow as best they can. Being someone who often feels different from others certainly makes it hard for the INTJ to view themselves as being “normal,” which can be something they struggle with when they are younger. In reality, they might be unique, but that doesn’t make them strange- it just means people are blind to appreciate the positive things which come from their incredible inner minds.
Accuracy Is Vital to Them
Being accurate and focusing on the truth is a goal that means a lot to the INTJ personality. They care about being accurate and removing ignorance wherever they can. They want to be sure that they are well aware of the facts and care about diving deeper in order to understand things better. Where some people accept whatever they are told, the INTJ does not simply follow so blindly. Instead, they want to take time to weigh this against their own inner knowledge and intuition, ensuring that everything truly adds up. They have a natural talent for reading the situation and can sense when something just isn’t right or truthful. INTJs might not be great at understanding people, but they do sense inaccuracies when they see them. They don’t just let people try and push them around or force them into following. Instead, they want to be sure they are making smart choices in life. INTJs can be seen as strange because they don’t follow what others expect and instead follow what is factual and real. This can sometimes make the INTJ a bit blunt, making them appear awkward or weird to some people.
They Have Complex Inner Worlds
INTJs have incredibly complex inner minds, where they often prefer to spend their time. They don’t need to be around people most of the time and might even avoid romantic entanglements when they are younger. INTJs don’t like forcing themselves to be around people who they don’t truly connect with. Instead, they would rather wait for someone special to come along. For the INTJ, being inside their own thoughts and imagination is often more enriching than socializing with people who don’t understand or appreciate them for who they are. At times this can seem strange to others since they don’t fully understand why the INTJ requires so much time to themselves. Being someone who needs to distance themselves from social interactions certainly makes people see them as weird when they don’t understand this need.
The Awkward INTJ
INTJs might not fully realize that they can have awkward tendencies, but this comes from not being all that connected with people or social norms. The awkward INTJs can be blunt and to the point, which to some people can be off-putting, and they don’t really appreciate the way the INTJ can be somewhat harsh about how they express things. Sometimes when the INTJ is trying to approach a new social situation, they can appear rather confident, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have some awkward behaviors. This comes from not naturally being in tune with the emotions or needs of others, and instead, they can be blunt and to the point when trying to convey something. Even when the INTJ is attempting to connect emotionally, they just aren’t naturally expressive people, so this can sometimes be a challenge for them. They can seem like they are behaving in ways that people don’t always connect with since they can be distracted and even become bored easily with most people.
