While consistency is important for some people, others don’t mind a little change and confusion in their lives. Here is how important consistency is to each personality type.
INFJ
For INFJs it is important to have some level of consistency, especially in their relationships. They want to be able to depend on their loves ones, and dislike people who can’t seem to maintain a sense of commitment. INFJs are welcome to a certain amount of change and inconsistencies in life, simply because they realize it is part of the way the world works. INFJs are not incapable of withstanding a few inconsistencies in people, since they themselves can be rather complex and confusing people. They simply want someone who can be sturdy and consistent where it truly matters.
ENFJ
ENFJs believe that a certain amount of consistency is important, especially in their relationships. They want to make sure their actions are careful, so that they can properly tend to their loved ones. ENFJs don’t want to compromise anyone they care about, and strive to make them happy. Being inconsistent can end up hurting others inadvertently, and ENFJ certainly don’t want that to happen. They understand that not everything in life can line up perfectly, but they do strive to be consistent when they can.
INFP
INFPs don’t mind when things get a little messy or even inconsistent. They enjoy change and don’t want everything to be boring and monotonous. INFPs can sometimes jump from one thought to the next without much hesitation. INFPs are inconsistent with their thoughts sometimes, but not when it comes to their values and emotions. They believe in being solid with the things that truly matter, and want their loved ones to be consistent in that way as well.
ENFP
ENFPs can sometimes be inconsistent, since their minds jump quickly from one thought to the next. ENFPs are always trying to explore new things and experiences and dislike feeling stagnant. Instead of remaining stuck in one place, ENFPs would rather jump into something completely new without hesitation. This can cause them to appear a bit inconsistent, since the ENFP will say one thing but then show interested in something entirely different. They enjoy change and don’t want to remain stuck in the same boring place.
INTJ
INTJs believe that a certain amount of consistency is important, and helps them maintain a grounded sense of awareness. They don’t want things to become stuck though, and are welcome to change when it is necessary. INTJs simply prefer their information and facts to be true and consistent. They dislike when someone flip flops constantly, and will become quickly agitated by people like this. INTJs value individuals who can maintain a consistent set of morals and whose words are in line with their actions.
ENTJ
ENTJs value consistency, especially when it comes to the people in their lives. They want the people around them to be loyal and dependable. If people are inconsistent and constantly changing their minds it will frustrate the ENTJ immensely. They want people who they can rely on and understand, and dislike flighty individuals. ENTJs also believe that consistency is important when it comes to the information they absorb, and they want to be able to live a life based on solid facts.
INTP
INTPs don’t mind change and actually enjoy a little mess in their lives. Inconsistency bothers them only when it comes to people who cannot seem to commit to something. When INTPs are faced with flighty individuals, it frustrates them and makes them want avoid that person entirely. They don’t mind inconsistency when it comes to certain aspects of life, since they are prepared to explore the many different possibilities of a situation.
ENTP
ENTPs don’t mind when life presents them with inconsistencies, since they will just find ways to explore those possibilities further. ENTPs actually enjoy change and want to feel constantly challenged by their experiences. When things become too stagnant the ENTP becomes bored and unhappy. They need to be free to explore different possibilities and even learn to understand the inconsistencies in life. ENTPs use most things as a learning opportunity, and will pay attention to patterns and irregularities that they observe.
ISTJ
ISTJs value consistency very much, and believe in following the rules in life. They want to maintain a sense of order and organization, since it helps them keep some semblance of control. ISTJs believe in owning up for their actions and don’t want to use excuses in any way. They believe in being consistent with their actions, beliefs and morals. When someone is constantly wavering the ISTJ will likely become frustrated and lose their trust in that individual.
ESTJ
ESTJs believe that consistency is very important, especially when it comes to their relationships. They dislike when people are flighty and cannot seem to make a decision properly. Someone who says one thing yet commits actions that do not line up with those words, is untrustworthy to the ESTJ. They believe in working hard and always doing what is right, and dislike when things are inconsistent. They want to maintain a sense of organization and dependability, and work hard to achieve their goals.
ISFJ
ISFJs value consistency very much, and prefer when things are organized and dependable. Someone who does not line up their words with their actions, is both confusing and frustrating for the ISFJ. They want to be someone others can rely on, so they try to be consistent with their actions and beliefs. ISFJs want things to be scheduled because it helps them maintain a sense of control. Their main goal is tending to the needs of their loved ones, which is why ISFJs value consistency so much.
ESFJ
ESFJs believe that consistency is important when it comes to relationships and values. They want their loved ones to be capable of commitment, and dislike someone who doesn’t display actions that line up with their words. ESFJs can sometimes be inconsistent themselves though, especially when their heart and head do not want to come together. They can struggle with their own desires and balancing those against the needs of their loved ones. ESFJs put others first which can cause some inconsistencies in their lives.
ISTP
ISTPs don’t mind inconsistencies in life, and expect that change is bound to happen. ISTPs don’t believe in trying to control everything, and realize that not everything is going to go according to plan. They are comfortable with things being unpredictable and prefer to jump into things headfirst. They enjoy a little adventure in life, and don’t want everything to be expected or planned.
ESTP
ESTPs don’t mind inconsistencies when it comes to certain aspects in life. They can be a bit inconsistent themselves, simply because they live in the present moment. ESTPs can change their minds rather quickly, and prefer to follow their instincts when it comes to making decisions. They don’t believe it is important to always be consistent and prefer to go after what they want and whatever feels right in that present moment.
ISFP
ISFPs follow their hearts, which can lead to them being inconsistent sometimes. They do what feels right and true in that present moment, even if it leads them down unexpected paths. ISFPs just want to follow their instincts with most things in life, and dislike having to analyze every decision that they make. While ISFPs are adventurous and fun people, they do believe in being consistent when it comes to their morals and ideals.
ESFP
ESFPs are not very consistent people, since they prefer to follow their heart and their emotions. They go after what they want in that present moment and don’t enjoy being held back. They make choices based on whatever feels right in the moment, which can appear a bit inconsistent to others. ESFPs do strive to be moral people, they just don’t need to have everything planned and exact.
