ENFP Intuition: Understanding the ENFPs Sense of Intuition
Each personality type has some sort of intuition, it is simply more powerful for some than for others. Not only does the potency of intuition vary from type to type, there are also different types of intuition which are expressed in very different ways. For some there is extraverted intuition, while for others it is introverted which is much stronger and more naturally used. In order to understand how each personality type will respond and experience things, knowing their intuitive strengths and weaknesses is certainly important.
The ENFPs intuition is actually their dominant function, which means it is how they process information and the world around them much stronger than with their other functions. The ENFPs Ne or extraverted intuition, is how they see the world around them and what makes them such imaginative and often active people. ENFPs are often viewed as high energy and curious people, always wanting to explore something new to keep themselves interested. Their minds work in rather unique ways, which is majorly attributed to their dominant extraverted intuition.
ENFP and Extraverted Intuition
The ENFPs intuition is part of what makes them naturally enthusiastic and energetic people. They are constantly curious about the world around them and have minds which seem to be always moving. Their intuition is what helps the ENFP to see many different possibilities and approach things from different angles. While some people view things in a straight line, the ENFP sees all of the different paths that could be taken. This can certainly cause the ENFP to bounce from place to place or thing to thing, since their minds struggle to remain stagnant in one firm place. This is largely attributed to their intuition, since it is always generating new ideas and creativity for the ENFP. They can see all of these different possibilities in the world around them and it makes it difficult for them to remain standing still for too long (metaphorically speaking). They don’t enjoy stagnancy and this is why the ENFP doesn’t often live by a strict schedule.
The ENFPs intuition also makes them rather passionate people, since they thrive on new ideas. Being able to look at a person or a situation and see the potential and all of the possibilities, is something which keeps the ENFP moving in different directions. They don’t just see how things are presently, instead they see how things could be and this can certainly cause the ENFP to be seen as a dreamer. For some it can seem like they are overly enthusiastic about these possibilities, but the ENFP derives these ideas from their intuition and that is more factual than people realize. Their intuition is something which absorbs the information around them and pieces it together to come up with these different possible scenarios. This is much more analytical and thoughtful than people realize, and ENFPs really are intellectually driven people. They simply tend to move more towards people, since they are very connected to the people they meet and those closest to them.
Trusting in Their Intuition
ENFPs definitely do best when they rely on this intuition, but it also needs to be combined with their other functions in order to work properly. ENFPs have a strong sense of the different potential outcomes of a situation, which helps them excel at problem solving and even puzzles. Their rich inner minds can make the ENFP skilled at so many different careers, and so it is important that they follow whichever path their intuition is telling them to follow. At times the ENFP allows emotions to get the best of them, and they might find themselves falling into the pressure of their family and loved ones. The expectations of others can be something which creates a block for the ENFP, and so they start to find themselves struggling to really trust in their own intuition and knowledge because of this. They need to learn how to connect with their loved ones without allowing those people to control their lives and their choices. ENFPs care about their family and want to make them proud, but they also need to learn how to listen to their own inner voice.
Intuitive Weaknesses
For the ENFP their dominant function being their Ne can cause them trouble at times. For most people our greatest strengths can also turn out to be our greatest weaknesses at times. For the ENFP this can cause them to struggle with following rules or adhering to certain schedules and time constraints. The ENFP finds themselves so curious about the world around them, and so they follow this inspiration wherever it might lead. When they are younger this sometimes gets the ENFP into trouble, especially as they are still learning to reign these feelings in a bit. While the ENFP has an incredibly vivid mind and rich inner imagination, this curiosity can make it challenging for them to finish projects at times. They find themselves wanting to start these different projects but can become bored after a while and want to explore something new. It is important for the ENFP to start to learn how to complete the more important tasks, and stick to things which might not be as interesting as they were when the project began.
Maintaining focus is often one of the biggest struggles for the ENFP, since they don’t like feeling stagnant. They cannot necessarily control the way their minds have a tendency to wander, since they are often overloaded with so many different thoughts and ideas. There are times when the ENFP might even go quiet, and the people around them think they are intentionally ignoring others. The ENFPs is much more pensive and internal than people realize, and this can be confusing since they are also rather outgoing people. These complexities can sometimes be a struggle for the ENFP to explain to the people they care for.
