Here’s How You Handle Long Distance Relationships, Based on Your Personality Type

Here’s How You Handle Long Distance Relationships, Based on Your Personality Type

While long distance relationships can be difficult for everyone, some people can handle this sort of connection better than others. Here is how you handle long distance relationships, based on your personality type.

INFJ

INFJs can often handle long distance relationships better than a lot of other types. They don’t need to constantly be around the person they love, and can appreciate them from a distance. Of course they will eventually need to be in constant with their partner, but they can handle long times of being apart. INFJs don’t want to simple settle for someone who is within their proximity, and would rather be with someone who they share a deep and meaningful connection with. They know that a bond is more important than just physical contact, and want to make it work with someone they truly care for.

ENFJ

ENFJs can handle long distance for a while, and will do their best to make it work. They will often come up with ways to keep things going strong, and will make the effort to spice up the relationship. When the ENFJ finds someone they care for and connect with they will go out of their way to maintain that relationship. While things might not always be easy they are more than willing to push through the struggles in order to keep their partner around. ENFJs do become frustrated after a while though, and will need to find ways to visit their partner.

INFP

INFPs can definitely handle being in a long distance relationship, and might find it easier to meet people online. They would rather make a sincere connection with someone than simply date people who live close to them. If the INFP finds someone they care for who lives far away, they will try their hardest to make that relationship work. INFPs can definitely handle the distance, as long as they know there is a future with that person. They are capable of living in the moment for a while though, especially if they have an idea that things will end with them living in the same place.

ENFP

ENFPs believe in love, even if this isn’t something they broadcast to others. Deep down they want to find someone who understands and appreciates them for who they are. ENFPs are willing to make a long distance relationship work, especially if they meet someone who makes them truly happy. The ENFP will go out of their way to make that person realize they care, especially if they feel this in return. ENFPs can maintain a long distance relationship but after a while they will likely want to make a move They are spontaneous people so they won’t be afraid to make that next step if it makes sense for them.

INTJ

INTJs actually enjoy having plenty of independence, which is something they might like about long distance relationships. They don’t mind having plenty of time to themselves, and don’t need to constantly be in close proximity to someone they care for. INTJs can maintain a long distance relationship for a while, especially if they have a plan to move closer to one another in the future. INTJs would rather wait for someone who they truly connect with, and don’t want to just date people who are close to them physically.

ENTJ

ENTJs can maintain a long distance relationship for a little while, but eventually they need to be able to see that person. They don’t enjoy having to be apart for a long time, and require a physical connection. ENTJs want to know that there is a future with someone, because they take their commitments seriously. They will certainly be able to maintain this bond as long as there is some sort of plan for their future.

INTP

INTPs often find themselves in long distance relationships, since they often feel more comfortable meeting people online. They would rather make connections that feel sincere, than simply date someone in close proximity. INTPs can work through a long distance relationship, especially if they know that things will move forward into a good direction. The INTP wants to be sure that their partner is willing to make an effort to visit, and maybe even figure out who will move in the future. They don’t need to have a detailed plan, they just want to know that things will work out.

ENTP

ENTPs can certainly handle being in a long distance relationship for the right person, since deep down they truly want to make a sincere connection. While ENTPs can maintain a long distance relationship, they need to know that things will move forward at some point. The ENTP wants to be able to see that person, and plan visits fairly often. They are willing to make this effort, but they do enjoy being able to physical be close to the person they are dating. They enjoy this physical connection, so not being able to visit often will be difficult for them.

ISTJ

ISTJs often prefer to have a relationship with someone in close proximity, and might become frustrated with long distance. They can handle this sort of connection as long as there is a clear plan about where the relationship is heading. They need to know that there is a future and they can actually end up living in the same place eventually. ISTJs are practical people and being in a relationship with someone long distance will likely seem like an unrealistic situation.

ESTJ

ESTJs are very practical people which can make a long distance relationship feel unrealistic to them. They want to make a connection with someone that has a clear future, and dislike flighty dating. ESTJs want a real commitment and prefer a relationship that has the potential to become something that will last a long time. ESTJs can handle the concept of a long distance relationship, but they want something that they can be sure will actually last, so they won’t maintain the distance for too long without wanting someone to make a move.

ISFJ

ISFJs aren’t really fans of long distance, since they prefer something practical. They want to be sure that they have found someone they can build a real future with, and long distance sometimes makes the challenging. If the ISFJ knows that this person is committed them, and that they can eventually live together- they will be able to handle the distance much better. For ISFJs it is important to have a relationship that is serious, and they dislike simply living in the moment.

ESFJ

ESFJs prefer having a relationship that will last and value having a real commitment. For the ESFJ it is important to know that the person they are dating is serious about them and actually wants to build a future. ESFJs are willing to date someone long distance, since they do have quite the hopeless romantic side to them. If they find someone who they connect with and deeply care for, they will do everything they can to make it work. While the ESFJ can handle long distance, they want to be sure that the relationship will move forward eventually.

ISTP

ISTPs can definitely handle long distance, since they do enjoy having their independence. The only issue with the ISTP is they do enjoy making a physical connection with someone. They might need to have that person visit often in order to maintain their relationship. ISTPs live in the moment, and will go after whatever they feel most inspired by. If the ISTP is drawn to someone who doesn’t live nearby, they will certainly dive into the connection without feeling fearful or doubting the situation.

ESTP

ESTPs aren’t really much for long distance, since they are very physical people. They would rather search for someone who is close by, so they don’t have to constantly make this connection through messages. ESTPs want something that they can tangibly hold onto, and become frustrated with long distance relationships are a while. They aren’t fans of having to hold out for someone they can’t even see or touch.

ISFP

ISFPs follow their hearts, and will go towards anyone who they make a real connection with. They will try hard to make a long distance relationship work if they meet someone who they feel truly drawn to. ISFPs would rather be with someone they can touch and be close to, but that doesn’t mean they won’t work hard to make long distance work if it feels like the right person. ISFPs simply want to find true love, and believe in going after what they want.

ESFP

ESFPs aren’t often interested in long distance, because they would rather find someone they can physically connect with. Long-distance might seem like a waste of time for the ESFP, and they will struggle with missing that person. They definitely aren’t suited for long distance, and would do much better with someone they can physically touch and be close to.
