Enneagram Type 2 Male: The Enneagram Type Two Man

The Enneagram is a categorization of personality types based on how people perceive and respond to the world and information they gather, as well their own emotions. This describes 9 different enneagram or personality types, and each one possesses certain core beliefs which are what drives them. These beliefs drive each type and also can be limiting at times, which is why understanding them is so important. It isn’t meant to lock people into those weaknesses or limitations, instead it is meant to help them improve and find ways to maintain a sense of healthy balance in their lives. It also helps to gain a deeper understanding of what motivates the people around you, and helps to comprehend why they contradict themselves at times. Knowing the enneagram gives a clearer sense of these inner motivations and even fears.

Understanding each type is important but it can also be important to understanding the variations. For certain types it might cause them to respond differently to the world being a type 2 man, and how they are perceived by others because of this. They are known as the helpers, wanting to make a difference for those around them. Understanding how this correlates with being a male type 2, can help to gain a deeper comprehension of how they respond to the world as well as how they can better manage their own emotions.

Type 2 The Helper

The type 2 personality is very focused on their desire to feel wanted and worthy of others. They don’t want to be abandoned or feel like they aren’t good enough and so they always strive to be helpful. They are generous people, with a naturally strong sense of empathy towards others. They put a lot of their energy and focus into caring for others, wanting to do whatever they can to help them and provide for their needs. This focus comes from a fear of being unloved, wanting to always be seen as useful and helpful to the people around them. At their best they are empathetic and self-sacrificing people, who will do just about anything to make others happy, especially those they love. This can sometimes lead the type 2 individual to neglect their own needs, not realizing that they need to take time for themselves as well. While this can cause them to appear rather selfless, it can also weigh them down after a while. Being someone who only focuses on the needs and desires of others, leaves the type 2 individual feeling a bit underappreciated.

The Type 2 Male Values

One of the strongest values and most important things for the type 2 male is to feel loved and needed by those around them. They care about being helpful and useful to the people around them and want to make a difference in this way. This motivation drives them to make deep and personal connections, valuing relationships over most things in life. This doesn’t prevent them from building careers or being useful in society, as this is an important way to be valuable and desirable to those around them. Their relationships are truly important to the type two man, making their biggest focus geared towards helping others and ensuring that they can care for them properly. They can be very strong about their feelings for certain people, expending all of their energy in ensuring they are happy and taken care of.

The type 2 man is often naturally good at fitting into society, since they have a strong understanding of people and their behaviors. They can blend into different situations, knowing how to navigate their environment by how they respond to other people. They are sensitive to the emotions of others and are very considerate of how people feel. This is something which can actually help them in the workplace, since they can predict the needs of those around them rather quickly and easily. They know what to do in order to please their superiors, and will work hard to accomplish this. Being able to predict what people want and need can make the type 2 male amazing at networking, especially if they place a high value on achieving these goals. This often depends on their loved ones and what they feel is needed to impress them and make them happy. They care about being someone who can provide for those around them and so they can utilize their sense of charisma in order to accomplish these things.

The Type 2 Male Struggles

Being a type 2 individual can be challenging at times, especially since they are a bit like sponges. They absorb the emotions of others, and always strive to be able to help and provide for them. This can sometimes leave them in tough situations, feeling as if they are being used by the wrong people. Certain people can take advantage of their altruistic nature, knowing that the type 2 man is going to go above and beyond to be there for them. This is something which can also be misunderstood, as men aren’t necessarily seen as being the nurturing types. For the type 2 male it does set them apart, as they are more likely to be caretakers than anything else. They strive to make others happy and this is one of their most important goals and values in life. Being someone who wants to care for others might make them seem more emotional, when in reality they aren’t. Instead they are focused on the feelings of others in a completely altruistic manner, whereas others might not realize their intentions are positive.

The type 2 male can also struggle with feeling a sense of possessiveness towards their loved ones. This isn’t something which always occurs and is more likely to happen when they are under extreme stress. They simply don’t want to lose those closest to them and often want to protect them. This protective nature can certainly be misunderstood, especially for the type 2 mane.
