Here’s How You Handle Getting Older, Based on Your Personality Type
While everyone can struggle with growing older, some people cope with it better than others. Here is how you handle getting older, based on your personality type.
As INFJs grow older they often start to mature in many ways, and learn how to understand themselves better. At the same time they can struggle with regret, and feeling like they haven’t lived up to some of their own expectations. They might start to feel anxious about the things they didn’t do when they were younger, especially since INFJs believe they are meant to serve a greater purpose in life. They often want to make a difference in the world around them, and it can make them feel a bit regretful as they get older, especially if they haven’t met some of their goals.
ENFJs often have goals that they want met by a certain times in their lives, and if they haven’t gotten there it can be challenging for them. Most ENFJs do meet many of their life goals, which can make getting older easier for them. They try to learn and grow and time goes by, and are always working to take care of everyone around them. When they do feel like they haven’t accomplished as much as they would like it can certainly weigh on the ENFJ when they get older. For them it is important to get things done and be someone their loved ones can be proud of.
INFPs can struggle with feeling like they haven’t done enough with their lives, especially since they believe they are meant to serve a greater purpose. They don’t want to waste their lives and are always searching for deeper meaning in their actions. Even if they have met some truly amazing goals, INFPs can struggle with feeling like they could always be doing better than they actually are. They are caring people who truly want to make a difference and help improve the lives of those around them. This can make getting older a bit challenging sometimes, since they might feel like they are missing out.
For ENFPs it is important to experience life to the fullest extent, but this desire to jump into new things can leave them with some regrets. They might look back on their lives and wish they had accomplished more meaning and done things that made a real difference. ENFPs simply have somewhat high expectations for themselves, and want to do what they can to help others as well. As they get older the ENFP might not really think about the idea of time running out, but they might feel like they want to do something more with their lives.
INTJs aren’t really the type to get stressed about time passing, since they have goals that they are great at following through with. They do want to meet their own expectations by a certain point in their lives, but that is simply so they can give themselves structure and deadlines. They follow through with the things they plan, and work hard to ensure that they get things done properly. INTJs don’t like becoming frustrated by things like getting older, and are capable of coping with this properly. They simply believe in setting goals for themselves and acquiring what they want.
ENTJs don’t often struggle with getting older as much as some people, since they are good at accomplishing their goals. They have structure in their lives and know how to do whatever it takes to achieve the things they want. This helps ENTJs cope with getting older, since they more than likely have met the important goals even sooner than they planned to. They always have more goals though and more things they want to accomplish as times passes.
INTPs can struggle with getting older sometimes, since they have a fear of missing out. They can look back on their accomplishments and might feel like they should have done more by this time in their lives. INTPs want to be able to achieve so much, but oftentimes their overactive minds cause them to overthink certain things. While they likely have accomplished far more than they are willing to commend themselves for, this can cause them to feel a bit regretful as they get older.
ENTPs can sometimes struggle as they get older, especially when they consider all of the things they missed out on. They really dislike feeling as though they haven’t accomplished enough, and are always trying to dive into some new experience. It is actually easy for the ENTP to feel like they have missed out on something, and they struggle to ever really feel like they have absorbed enough information or experiences. They likely will run these things over in their minds as time passes, and will want to seek out new ways to gain experience.
ISTJs are great at setting goals for themselves and following through with them accordingly. This often helps them cope with getting older, since they have things they can be proud of. ISTJs can struggle with aging just like any other person though, and might wish they could have accomplished more. This can sometimes send them into overdrive and make the ISTJ want to get more things done as time passes. They simply believe in fighting for want they want and working hard to accomplish their goals in life.
ESTJs usually have less trouble with getting older, especially if they have accomplished many of their goals. If they have things they can be proud of it helps the ESTJ feel like an important part of their community. Having something they can brag about helps the ESTJ cope with getting older much better. They prefer to focus on the future and always have more goals to work towards in their lives. They want to accomplish great things in life and they are often very capable of doing this.
ISFJs often handle getting older better if they feel like they have accomplished positive things in their lives. When they have loved ones around to share their time with, it helps the ISFJ feel much more at ease with aging. They are happiest when they are with the people they love and truly enjoy being able to get older surrounded by these special people. ISFJs don’t mind time passing, as long as they feel like they have accomplished enough and cared for their loved ones properly.
ESFJs can struggle with getting older if they feel like they haven’t accomplished enough. They might begin to feel like they have spent too much time focusing on others, and this can cause them to feel a bit anxious about their own choices. If the ESFJ doesn’t feel like they have done enough to build up their future, it can leave them feeling a bit uneasy. They want to be sure to work towards accomplishing their goals and building a life with people they love, who also appreciate their efforts.
ISTPs rarely become stressed about getting older, since they live their lives in the present. They don’t like getting caught up on their failures or regrets and prefer to find new things to experience. ISTPs are capable of seeing their accomplishments and figure out new things to dive into. They aren’t afraid of the unknown which is something that often helps them cope with getting older and moving forward with their lives.
While ESTPs enjoy being able to live in the moment they can sometimes struggle when it comes to getting older. They might feel like they enjoyed their youth too much and didn’t accomplish enough. This can leave the ESTP feeling like they are a bit behind others, and might stress them out as they get older. They don’t often give themselves enough praise, which can make it challenging for the ESTP to really see what they have accomplished.
ISFPs don’t like feeling regretful for the things they haven’t accomplished and would rather focus on the present. They want to follow their heart, and this is something that often leaves them feeling more fulfilled about their choices. If the ISFP feels like they have sincerely followed their hearts in life, then they are less likely to feel regretful. They will also feel more at ease with getting older if they have loved ones who appreciate them and enjoy their company.
ESFPs live so much in the moment that they rarely struggle with getting older. They also maintain a childlike spirit which helps them live their lives with a sense of youth and vitality. ESFPs enjoy experiencing life to the fullest and don’t want to feel stagnant in any way. They try not to let getting older hold them back from enjoying their lives or the present of their loved ones.
