ISTJ Feelings & Emotions: How the ISTJ Handles Inner Feelings

ISTJs are often seen as emotionless and focused people, which is not the case at all. While they are rather direct and care about getting things done, there is so much more beneath the surface. It is important to take a deeper look at people and not just rely on how things appear on the outside. It is especially true when it comes to feelings and emotions since most people experience a myriad of things underneath. We may not be able to recognize what is going on inside of someone, but that doesn’t make it any less real for them.

They Have Strong Morals

ISTJs actually have strong inner morals, and they use their Fi or introverted feeling in order to process their morals. Their feeling function is third in their stack, which makes it more prominent in their lives than people realize. ISTJs often develop their sense of morals based on these inner feelings, processing them and coming up with beliefs that are rooted in who they are. While some might base their desires and morals on those around them, the ISTJ does not. Their sense of pride in themselves and what they believe is right comes from deep inside. ISTJs are seen as factual and goal-oriented people; while this is true, they are also truly moral. They care about doing what they feel is morally sound and good, even if their morals might not be as emotionally or expressive as some others might be.

For the ISTJ, their sense of inner morals helps to guide them on their path to achieving their goals. While they value efficiency and care about being able to accomplish their goals, they do want to maintain a sense of morals along the way. ISTJs will work hard to get things done, but they also want to be sure to maintain a strong sense of who they are along this path. For them, it is important to keep a grasp on these morals and know that they achieved their goals with their priorities still intact. Instead of simply hurting anyone who gets in their way, the ISTJ finds other means of being able to get to where they want to be. This doesn’t mean they will allow people to hold them back, but they still believe in doing what is right.

They Express Their Feelings Practically

While ISTJs might not be emotionally expressive, they do care about those around them. They simply express these emotions with more practical means instead of being affectionate outwardly. When the ISTJ cares for someone, they take the time to figure out the best ways to help them better their lives. They also want to tend to their practical needs and ensure that this person never needs to worry about the important requirements in life. They want to help the people they love improve their lives and accomplish their goals. For the ISTJs, expressing their feelings isn’t easy or natural, but they do find other ways of doing so. They focus their energy on solving their problems and really just want to find a way to make them happy.

This can be confusing for some people since they expect more emotional and outright declarations of affection. Most people expect someone to share their feelings verbally and find the words to show they care. They want to hear these nice words, but for ISTJ, this isn’t quite as natural. They aren’t outwardly emotional people, and so sometimes, it can make people think they don’t care when this could not be further from the truth. ISTJs feel deeply for their loved ones and often prioritize them above everything else. They care so much that they focus a lot of their energy on being able to tend to their practical needs and ensure that they have everything provided for them. People might not see this as affectionate, but for the ISTJ, it means a lot. They just don’t find it easy to express these inner feelings and can struggle to find the right words to say in order to make it clear to those around them. For the ISTJ, it is more comfortable to find tangible ways of showing they care and of expressing those inner feelings towards someone else.

Family Means Everything

ISTJs actually prioritize family and their close loved ones above everything else, more than people realize. While they might not be mushy or expressive people, they put their loved ones first and would do just about anything for them. ISTJs are much more caring and loving than people realize. They just don’t know how to express this in ways most people expect from them. They have deep feelings for the people in their lives, and this is why they work hard to provide a comfortable life for them. ISTJs have many personal goals, but they also have goals that are tied to their family. They want to be someone who can provide for those around them, and this is often why they work so hard and strive to achieve their goals in life. ISTJs want to make people proud and care about how these special people view them. While the opinions of strangers don’t often matter to the ISTJ, what their family thinks is truly important and can really affect the ISTJ. The important thing to remember about ISTJs is that there is so much more going on inside of them than anyone can see outwardly expressed.
