While some people want to give plenty of freedom to their loved ones, others can be a bit possessive towards them. Here is how possessive you can be, based on your personality type.
INFJ
INFJs generally enjoy having their space, and prefer to be on their own oftentimes. While they do treasure their time alone, INFJs value their deepest connections. When the INFJ finds someone who they can connect with, and who understands them, it can be hard for them to let that person go. They will often be a little possessive towards that person, but it is simply because they cherish their time together. When they are with that person they feel appreciated and truly loved, which makes the INFJ want to hold onto it. They will be a little possessive when others attempt to take the attention of that person, even if they don’t mean to be this way.
ENFJ
ENFJs certainly try not to be possessive people, and enjoy being able to give their loved ones space. They try hard to let the people closest to them spread their wings, and will even show their support. ENFJs are social people who often have many friends and acquaintances. When ENFJs are extremely bonded to someone, they can become a little bit possessive towards them. They will try not to make this obvious, but they often fear losing someone who they can feel truly connected to. They will want to have that person around all of the time, and simply enjoy being in their presence.
INFP
INFPs certainly try not to be possessive, since they want their loved ones to have plenty of space. INFPs can become a bit possessive though, especially when they find someone they are deeply connected to. When they feel a special bond with someone they simply want to spend plenty of time immersed in that person. INFPs will want to do what they can to maintain that relationship, and will fight for it if they feel them slipping away. ENFPs want to feel truly connected to their loved ones, and do not feel that bond fade just because they aren’t constantly in one another’s presence. If the ENFP feels as though that special person is slipping away from them, they might start to become a little possessive. They certainly will fight to keep someone in their lives, but they won’t be possessive unless there is a strong reason for them to be.
INTJ
INTJs are definitely not possessive people, and actually want to give their loved ones space. They enjoy having plenty of alone time themselves, and strive to maintain a sense of independence. They do enjoy sharing part of themselves with special people, but they don’t want to smother those people. INTJs are perfectly find with allowing their loved ones to do their own thing, and to have other friendships and bonds. INTJs are not possessive and realize that people are not things that they own. They might have times where they can demand a certain level of attention from that person, but these times are rare.
ENTJ
ENTJs are not extremely possessive people, since they personally enjoy having plenty of space. They do value loyalty though, and want the people closest to them to be dependable. For ENTJs loyalty is extremely important, they only want relationships with people who will stand by them and not stab them in the back. They can be a bit possessive at times because they want to be sure their loved ones are people they can truly trust. They don’t want to see them spending time with their enemies, and will become frustrated if this happens.
INTP
INTPs are not usually possessive people, at least not openly so. They enjoy having their own space, and want their loved ones to be capable of spreading their wings as well. They want to have a sense of independence in their relationship, and dislike when someone is possessive towards them. Although they often feel this way, INTPs can be a little bit possessive when they find someone who is truly special to them. They simply don’t want to let that person go, and can be fearful of losing them. They might not express this openly, but they show small signs of being possessive.
ENTP
ENTPs are definitely not possessive people, and prefer to have space in their relationships. They want to give their loved ones freedom, and enjoy seeing them do their own thing. ENTPs dislike feeling like they are being controlled, and do not want to be seen as controlling in return. They want to feel connected to the ones they love, but this connection does not go away just because they aren’t always with them. ENTPs enjoy being with people they can trust, which is why they are not very possessive people.
ISTJ
ISTJs are not possessive people, since they enjoy having their own space. They don’t strive to control their loved ones, and want to feel like they can trust them regardless. ISTJs do not like to hover, especially with the people they care for the most. They enjoy having plenty of space and independence, and want the same for the people closest to them. ISTJs will not attempt to control or possess someone they care for, and instead will give them trust and space in most situations.
ESTJ
ESTJs definitely enjoy having their independence, and dislike feeling as though someone is trying to control them. While ESTJs do enjoy having trustworthy loved ones, they do have moments where they can be a tad possessive. They simply want to be sure that the people closest to them are making the right choices in their lives. They also dislike seeing their loved ones fraternizing with the wrong types of people, which cane make them seem a bit possessive.
ISFJ
ISFJs do not like to be seen as possessive, and try to give their loved ones space. ISFJs do have moments where they can be a bit possessive though, this is simply because they care so deeply. They want the people closest to them to feel loved and appreciated, but they do crave this in return. ISFJs simply want to keep their family and loved ones very close, and enjoy sharing a connection with them. ISFJs keeping their loved ones close, and can be a bit protective over them.
ESFJ
ESFJs definitely do not want to be viewed as possessive, and dislike the idea of smothering their loved ones. ESFJs enjoy being able to help the people they care for grow and spread their wings. They do whatever they can to make sure their loved are happy, and strive to tend to their needs. They do not want to behave as though they are trying to possess people, and will try to keep any jealous inside. ESFJs do have moments where they feel possessive though, but will definitely attempt to brush those feelings aside.
ISTP
ISTPs are definitely not possessive people, and prefer to give people space. Independence is very important for ISTPs, and they value being free to make their own choices. They will not do anything that seems smothering towards others, and refer to allow them room to breathe. ISTPs are not possessive and can be a bit laid back when it comes to their relationships. They want to be sure that the people they care for feel free and not smothered by them.
ESTP
ESTPs do not intend to be possessive towards others, but they rarely find connections that they can value. When the ESTP finds someone they care for deeply, they will be a bit possessive towards them. They simply do not want to lose that relationship, and want to be sure that they tend properly to their bond. ESTPs can be a bit jealous sometimes and dislike feeling like they have to fight for the attention of the people close to them. They do not want to be seen as possessive though, and will try to hide this.
ISFP
ISFPs are definitely not possessive people, since they enjoy giving people space and room to be themselves. They don’t want to smother their loved ones, since they enjoy being able to have their own freedom as well. They want to inspire the people they care for to be themselves, no matter what that means. ISFPs do not want to possess people and prefer to trust them at all times. There might be moments where they want to have plenty of attention from their favorite person, which might make them seem possessive.
ESFP
ESFPs can be a bit possessive towards their loved ones, mostly because they enjoy having their attention. ESFPs sometimes dislike feeling like they have to share someone, and can be a bit hurt by this. They enjoy being close to their loved ones and sometimes this means they want constant attention and affection from them. ESFPs value the people they care for, and want to spend as much time with them as possible. They dislike feeling ignored, which is why ESFPs can sometimes appear a bit possessive.
