Here’s How Important Discretion is to You, Based on Your Personality Type

For some being discreet is extremely important, since they want to have a sense of privacy in their lives. For others it really isn’t valuable and they prefer living their lives in the moment and being open. Here is how important discretion is to you, based on your personality type.

INFJ

INFJs can definitely be discreet, since they are naturally private people. They have a hard time opening up to most people and prefer to keep their personal stuff to themselves. INFJs have many layers and reaching their deepest parts is often very challenging. They definitely aren’t open books, and prefer a certain level of discretion. People who are completely exposed and lack discretion can cause the INFJ to become uneasy. They don’t want everyone to know their personal business and can often be discreet with information.

ENFJ

ENFJs can be discreet when they want to be, especially when they are trying get something done. There are times though when they find it challenging to contain themselves, and they might lose that sense of discretion. ENFJs can get caught up in connecting with others, and their desire for privacy can become less important. They prefer to find ways to bond with people and don’t want to do anything that might jeopardize their relationships.

INFP

INFPs prefer to live with a sense of openness and follow their hearts. While they do believe in following what they know is right, INFPs do understand how to be discreet when it is necessary. They don’t like feeling restrained by what they should do, instead they simply do what they know is the right thing. If it is important to be discreet for the sake of someone they love, the INFP will definitely work hard to do this. In some situations though they don’t believe that discretion is the right choice, and will be completely open in those settings.

ENFP

ENFPs can sometimes struggle with the idea of discretion, especially since they want to connect with others and be open. ENFPs follow their hearts and prefer to do what feels right for them regardless of how indiscreet it might be. When the ENFP reaches a point where they are confident in themselves they stop focusing on what other people think. They prefer to enjoy their lives and live with a sense of joy and passion. Sometimes their openness can be a bit intense for some people, especially when they are going after something.

INTJ

INTJs definitely believe that discretion is important, mostly because they dislike broadcasting things to others. When they need to be discreet for something the INTJ is often excellent at doing this. For them it is important to be able to keep a sense of privacy in their lives, instead of plowing through things without discretion and modesty. INTJs won’t be discreet with everything they do, but in most situations they do believe it is valuable and ultimately a good choice.

ENTJ

ENTJs do believe that discretion is important in many situations, especially when it is pertains to their business lives. They don’t like doing anything that can expose them in negative ways, and so they try to do things the right way. ENTJs do believe that privacy and discretion are important most of the time, and they want to focus on keeping things to themselves. ENTJs are focused people who strive to get their work done and advance in their lives.

INTP

INTPs definitely believe in discretion and often try to be private with just about everything they do. They don’t like exposing their actions to others and would rather it be kept personal. INTPs often have a hard time opening up to people or expressing themselves in a way that others can read. This makes being discreet rather easy and natural for INTPs, without much effort at all. They would often rather keep things discreet than expose their thoughts and feelings in a way that others can take advantage of.

ENTP

ENTPs can certainly be discreet when they realize it is necessary in order to get what they want out of a situation. They are good at navigating what needs to be done, and will certainly entertain some discretion when they realize it is most beneficial. ENTPs do have moments where they struggle to be discreet though, especially when they are caught up in something. Their minds are often running through so many different things all at once, that they completely lose the desire to be discreet.

ISTJ

ISTJs are definitely discreet people, and don’t like exposing things to too many others. They are capable of being completely subtle when the situation calls for it. ISTJs are naturally private people and this often helps them when they are required to be a bit discreet. They don’t like doing anything that can negatively affect themselves or their loved ones, and sometimes this means being completely discreet.

ESTJ

ESTJs definitely believe that discretion is important, especially when it comes to keeping their private lives to themselves. When the ESTJ is trying to get something done, sometimes it requires a certain level of discretion. In these situations they want to be sure to keep focused and they don’t want to make any mistakes. ESTJs put a lot of pressure on themselves sometimes, which is often why they will be capable of being discreet when it is important to them.

ISFJ

ISFJs are often very discreet people, and naturally prefer to be more subtle with their actions. They don’t like doing anything that can expose their loved ones to something negative, and work to keep a sense of harmony in their environment. If discretion is important to maintain the peace for their loved ones, then the ISFJ will certainly be able to be discreet.

ESFJ

ESFJs are often discreet when it is important, especially when it pertains to their loved ones. There are some times when the ESFJ can struggle with discretion, especially when they are caught up on something that excites them. They can be easily excitable at times, and it can cause them to lose that sense of awareness. Most of the time though ESFJs are discreet people, especially since privacy is so important to them.

ISTP

ISTPs are somewhat private people, but they do get caught up in the moment sometimes. They are focused on living in the present and this can cause some distractions in their lives. When the ISTP is caught off guard sometimes they can lose their ability to be completely discreet. ISTPs don’t really like having to focus on being a certain way in front of others, instead they want to do what feels right for them.

ESTP

ESTPs can actually have a hard time being discreet, especially since they live so much in the present moment. They aren’t always good at containing their thoughts and feelings and sometimes they get distracted. ESTPs don’t mean to lack discretion, they just aren’t always capable of containing themselves in certain situations. They are more interested in living in the present and doing whatever excites them most.

ISFP

ISFPs can be somewhat private people and might keep parts of themselves internalized. While they do believe in being discreet sometimes, ISFPs can struggle with this when they are caught up in the moment. ISFPs follow their hearts and this can lead them in different directions which might surprise others. They don’t want to feel held back and sometimes this causes them to be much less discreet.

ESFP

ESFPs aren’t always the most discreet people, and sometimes they struggle to keep secrets. They prefer to live their lives in the present and live with a sense of passion. Sometimes they can become caught up in the moment and lose sight of what they should be doing. This causes the ESFP to struggle with discretion, even if it might be important to them sometimes.
