Here’s How Well You Recognize Symbolism, Based on Your Personality Type

For some recognize the symbolism in something is easy and natural, for others it is a bit of a challenge. Some people actually enjoy uncovering the hidden meaning but to some it is exhausting and pointless. Here is how well you recognize symbolism, based on your personality type.

INFJ

INFJs can often find themselves more connected to symbolism than anything else in their lives. They are intuitive people and often read situations by picking up on the symbols and different underlying meanings. INFJs don’t believe in just taking things at face value, instead they want to look into what is being said underneath the surface. They are complex people with rich inner minds that don’t just settle for the simplest definitions.

ENFJ

ENFJs definitely are capable of understanding symbolism, since they are intuitive and complex people. They don’t just take things at face value and can often look at the deeper meaning behind things. For the ENFJ it often comes natural for them to read the symbolism in things, and they even enjoy this. They are connected to symbols and metaphors, and enjoy when something is deeper than it often appears to others.

INFP

INFPs often take very well to symbolism, and enjoy seeing the underlying meaning in things. To them something being symbolic often resonates on a deeper level for the INFP. Their inner emotions and thoughts are so complex, that they often sense symbolism in places where others cannot. INFPs enjoy seeing the deeper meaning to most things, instead of just looking at what lies on the surface. For the INFP symbolism is a great way to express themselves, and to understand the expression of others.

ENFP

ENFPs do appreciate symbolism and can often understand the deeper meaning to things. They don’t need things to be obvious and in their face for them to understand what is going on. ENFPs might even enjoy symbolism and want to convey things in a way that is representative of their feelings instead of blatant about it. For the ENFP seeing how something can be symbolic and conveys a point in a more poetic and artistic manner, is actually rewarding.

INTJ

INTJs definitely understand and pick up on symbolism, and rarely have trouble with this. They are intuitive people who always search for the deeper meaning with things. They want to understand the world and dislike feeling ignorant in any situation, which is what helps them uncover symbolism. INTJs are factual people but that doesn’t mean they want everything to be obvious and in their face. They enjoy uncovering the symbolic meaning to many things, especially from an artistic standpoint.

ENTJ

ENTJs do comprehend symbolism, especially since they will analyze something to fully understand it. They might feel like too much symbolic meaning can be a bit draining when they are trying to be efficient, but that doesn’t mean they cannot understand it. ENTJs appreciate symbolism in the right setting, like when it comes to art or music. They often enjoy these things having deeper meaning and symbolic expression and will enjoy trying to understand it.

INTP

INTPs often enjoy symbolism and might see it where others struggle to find the underlying meaning. INTPs are extremely analytical people, so they will often run the same thing over in their mind continuously. They want to be sure to uncover every detail and consider all of the possible outcomes. This helps the INTP to read into the symbolic meaning behind something, often before anyone else even recognizes what is going on.

ENTP

ENTPs definitely appreciate symbolism, and enjoy being able to look deeper into things. They are analytical people who enjoy running the same thing over and over again inside of their minds. They want to consider every single angle of a situation before moving on, which helps them uncover the symbolism that others might not recognize. Instead of just taking things at face value the ENTP wants to really analyze every little detail.

ISTJ

ISTJs don’t really enjoy symbolism in most situations, because they prefer when something is apparent and on the surface. They favor being efficient and dislike when something stands in their way. They aren’t incapable of comprehending symbolism, but most of the time they really don’t enjoy wasting their time on it. ISTJs prefer things that are expressed openly and at face value, instead of always having these underlying meanings.

ESTJ

ESTJs don’t usually take to symbolism all that well, and prefer when things are expressed clearly. They value efficiency, and to them being symbolic can often feel like a waste of time and energy. While ESTJs don’t mind appreciating art and metaphors, they don’t want it to hold up their daily lives. When they are trying to get something done the ESTJ wants facts and proven methods, instead of focusing on some symbolic meaning understand the surface.

ISFJ

ISFJs can sometimes become drained by too much symbolism, and would rather things be explained clearly. They strive to take care of their loved ones and don’t really like wasting their time on constant metaphors or symbolism. Sometimes ISFJs can become bored when people try to constantly uncover some hidden meaning in everything they see or read. They would rather appreciate things in their own way without constantly having to read into it.

ESFJ

ESFJs often enjoy symbolism when it comes to art or books, but don’t really appreciate having it as a constant in their lives. When someone needs everything to be symbolic it can appear a bit pretentious to the ESFJ. They often realize that some things are exactly as they seem, and there really isn’t much deeper going on. While in some situations symbolism can be a beautiful way to express something without making it obvious. They often meet somewhere in the middle when it comes to seeing things as symbolic.

ISTP

ISTPs can often comprehend symbolism, especially with things that make sense to have a more symbolic meaning. When someone consistently tries to find symbolism in everything and everything, it can become a bit draining for the ISTP. They are realistic and practical people who live their lives in the present moment. Having to constantly try and uncover some hidden meaning is just going to exhaust them.

ESTP

ESTPs can often comprehend symbolism in certain situations, especially when expressing parts of history. While ESTPs want to uncover facts and understand things on a deeper level, they can become drained by too much symbolism. When people feel a need to bury everything with symbolic meaning and metaphors, it can become a bit exhausting for the ESTP to try and keep up with this.

ISFP

ISFPs don’t mind the occasional symbolic meaning, but most of the time it becomes a bit draining for them. ISFPs enjoy things that are easy to understand and expressed with a sense of openness. They become a bit exhausted when someone constantly wants to bury things underneath layers of metaphor and symbolism. They appreciate it in their art and possibly music, but others than that the ISFP isn’t really interested in constant symbolism.

ESFP

ESFPs can become a bit drained by too much symbolism, and would rather things be expressed clearly. They can appreciate art and expression, but they don’t like when it is constantly buried under layers. ESFPs enjoy things that are clear and understandable, for them too many symbolic expressions just become pretentious and a bit draining.
