Enneagram Type 6 Love: How Enneagram Type Six Falls In Love

The Enneagram is a categorization of personality types based on how people perceive and respond to the world and information they gather, as well their own emotions. This describes 9 different enneagram or personality types, and each one possesses certain core beliefs which are what drives them. These beliefs drive each type and also can be limiting at times, which is why understanding them is so important. It isn’t meant to lock people into those weaknesses or limitations, instead it is meant to help them improve and find ways to maintain a sense of healthy balance in their lives. It also helps to gain a deeper understanding of what motivates the people around you, and helps to comprehend why they contradict themselves at times. Knowing the enneagram gives a clearer sense of these inner motivations and even fears.

When it comes to love and romance, understanding more about someone’s enneagram can certainly be a useful way to gauge compatibility. It can help you understand where that person is coming from and what their core values truly are. This can help uncover how to best communicate with your partner and how to find common ground. The type 6 individual values having a sense of security and support in their lives at all times. Understanding the type 6 personality is important, but also understanding how they respond in relationships and with someone romantically, is going to give you a better idea of how to communicate.

Type 6 Values

The type 6 personality is known as the loyalist because they are in fact, very loyal and committed people. They are responsible people who believe in doing their best to problem solve and get things done. They don’t like taking unnecessary risks, instead they want to be prepared for any given situation. They value a sense of security, wanting to know that they can take care of themselves as well as their loved ones. They also value having a sense of support from others, and care about making those types of helpful connections. The type 6 personality is very hardworking and often independent, wanting to know what they are capable of handling things. They are extremely loyal to their friends and relationships, wanting to always be there for the people they chose to let into their lives. They don’t believe in giving up on someone, and can often fight for relationships even if they should likely walk away sooner.

They also have this sense of loyalty to their own inner beliefs and ideas, not wanting to allow people to sway their opinions when they view something as truly important. It is important to recognize that just because they have a strong loyalty to certain beliefs and ideas, doesn’t mean they stick by what is the social norm or certain conventions. Instead sixes might actually be rebellious, likely to go against pre-built systems in favor of something which seems more reasonable.

Type 6 In Love

The type 6 in love is extremely committed and loyal when it comes to their partner. When they truly care for someone they want to go above and beyond to be supportive of them and their practical needs. They want to show their sense of support and this comes out in the way the type 6 tries to solve problems for those closest to them. They care about loyalty and value standing up for the ones they love and commit themselves to. When they are in love they might not be the most stereotypical romantic type, but they do go above and beyond for this person. Their sense of loyalty is something which causes them to remain firm in their commitment, as well as wanting to always build on this connection and bond they share. When they care for someone in this way they will often stand by them no matter what, and defend them against people who mean them harm or who are cruel to them. They will fight for this relationship even when things are difficult. They are likely to stand by their partner even when it seems like they should give up and move on. They don’t like letting people down and want to do their best to stand by what they believe in and what they commit to. They are reliable when it comes to their loved ones, and will always be there when they are in need.

Type 6 Relationship Struggles

The type 6 personality is very giving and loyal, but they aren’t always the most emotional people. Since they become so focused on getting things done and so they can appear high strung at times. They care about handling everything properly and this type of pressure can sometimes be overwhelming. Trying their best to be prepared for everything and valuing security so much, can make it difficult in their relationships at times. The less mature 6 can also struggle with trusting their partner, wanting to be sure they can rely on them to be loyal and stand by them no matter what. While this isn’t something all 6 types deal with, it can be an issue for them when they are younger. Wanting to ensure a sense of security isn’t always possible in relationships, especially if they are perceiving things incorrectly because of stress. When they are dealing with a lot of stress in their lives the type 6 individual can definitely have a harder time coping with their trust issues. They can seem overwhelmed and this can bleed into their relationship without them meaning for this to happen.
