The Ways That Each Myers-Briggs Type Can Be Hard On Themselves

Some of us can put immense amounts of pressure on ourselves to do our very best. Others are very laid-back and often carefree. Here is how each personality type can be hard on themselves.

INFJ

INFJs can often be very hard on themselves, constantly expecting perfection. They have high expectations for themselves, wanting to be able to make a difference in the world. The INFJ often puts pressure on themselves because of their powerful sense of purpose. They believe that they are meant to make a greater difference in the world, making them strive to do so. INFJs warm hearts often make them harder on themselves than they are on anyone else. The INFJ constantly wants to be sure that they are doing their best, while making the right choices in their lives. They want to be able to care for others, often struggling to care for themselves because of this.

ENFJ

ENFJs apply an often ridiculous amount of pressure on themselves to accomplish their goals. The ENFJ wants to make sure that everyone around them is happy, which often requires many things. They are capable of juggling many tasks, always wanting to do their best. They take on an often heavy load, all while maintaining their own very high standards. ENFJs are often perfectionists, never feeling like their best is good enough. They strive to improve constantly, even when others are already in awe of the ENFJ. They often want to be the person who takes care of everyone’s needs, along with accomplishing their own momentous goals.

INFP

INFPs can be very hard on themselves, wanting to be sure that they are making the right choices in life. INFPs have a powerful connection to their internal morals, which often makes them hard on themselves. They want to be sure that they are doing the right thing, always conscious of their actions. The INFP are very honest and moral individuals, who strive to be the best version of themselves. They love to grow and learn, constantly trying to keep an open mind to the world around them. The one thing the INFP will not bend on, is their strong sense of right and wrong. They constantly want to be sure that they are a good person and are not hurting others.

ENFP

ENFPs can be very hard on themselves, pushing to be better constantly. They are very curious and knowledge driven individuals, always absorbing the world around them. ENFPs want to be able to grow and develop as a person, without being held back by limitations. This drive to learn and grow often makes the ENFP hard on themselves, constantly searching for challenges to overcome. ENFPs are very caring and warm individuals, who want to be sure that they are not hurting others. Sometimes they become worried that they have upset someone, simply because they care so deeply.

INTJ

INTJs are often hard on others, but not nearly as hard as they are on themselves. The INTJ is constantly attempting to adjust their actions to be sure that they are doing their best. They feel like they could always be doing better, making them strive to rise above the challenge. INTJs love knowledge and constantly want to be absorbing as much as they can. The INTJ prides themselves on being open-minded and capable of understanding things on a deeper level. Because of this the INTJ can put a lot of pressure on themselves to keep up with everything (and we mean EVERYTHING). They are intelligent individuals, which often makes them push themselves very hard.

ENTJ

ENTJs are aggressive and forward-thinking individuals. They are often very hard on themselves, since they always believe they could be doing better. They have very big goals, which they work very hard to achieve. The ENTJ is constantly on the go, their minds always running through new strategies and ideas. The fact that they want to achieve greatness, often causes the ENTJ to push themselves very hard. They want to be constantly growing and strive to do better than their very best. ENTJs are self-confident individuals, but that comes from the fact that they realize they have worked very hard to achieve their goals. The fact that they are constantly learning and developing, makes them realize that they should be confident in themselves.

INTP

INTPs can be hard on others, but they are much harder on themselves. They have a desire to be precise about everything, making them run their ideas over in their minds a million times before bringing them to light. INTPs enjoy knowledge immensely, constantly striving to learn as much as they can. INTPs are very fast learners, capable of absorbing everything around them. They have a natural drive to be better and smarter, always wanting to grow themselves. The mind of an INTP is constantly racing through thoughts and ideas, seemingly without rest. They are often very hard on themselves, even if they don’t show that to others. INTPs often feel like they are capable of more, knowing that they can do better.

ENTP

ENTPs may appear lighthearted and easy-going, but they can be very hard on themselves. They have a way of challenging themselves constantly, wanting to be able to grow and learn. They enjoy personal growth immensely, always striving to be better than before. The ENTP has a way of almost enjoying the pressure that they put on themselves, though. It keeps them constantly growing, never content to just stay still. ENTPs are idea people, who love being able to constantly explore the possibilities in the world. They enjoy keeping their minds sharp so that they can debate new ideas with people around them.

ISTJ

ISTJs often put a lot of pressure on themselves to achieve their goals. They are extremely duty driven individuals, who want to do their best to be a vital member of society. ISTJs believe very strongly in doing what is right, but this often comes very naturally to them. They can be hard on themselves if they feel like they should be doing more than they are. The ISTJ wants to be sure that they are doing their job to their personally high standards. They believe in getting things done, without making excuses.

ESTJ

ESTJs have a way of pushing past their own internal struggles. They can be hard on themselves because they want to constantly be doing their best, but often they do this without much struggle. The ESTJ realizes when they are doing their job properly, making them confident in themselves. If the ESTJs feels like they failing, then they will be very hard on themselves. When the ESTJ isn’t living up to their own standards they often struggle with putting too much pressure on themselves. When the ESTJ is doing their best though, they will not be at all bothered by the pressure of others. They know when they could be doing better, and won’t allow other people to dictate this for them.

ISFJ

ISFJs often put a lot of pressure on themselves to take care of the needs of everyone around them. They want to be good people who are capable of handling their responsibilities. The ISFJ often pushes themselves to do more than they should, wanting to be the best that they can. ISFJs care very much about the feelings of others, making them very conscious of their actions. This can cause the ISFJ to be very hard on themselves, especially if they cannot seem to keep harmony in their environment. ISFJs often put the responsibility on themselves to make everyone happy, which can be a struggle.

ESFJ

ESFJs have a way of being very hard on themselves, without letting others realize it. They struggle constantly with wanting to achieve their very best. The ESFJ wants to be everything to everyone, never truly feeling like their best is really enough. They want to take care of the needs of their loved ones, while simultaneously being able to accomplish huge goals in their own lives. They want to be impressive to the people around them, making them put a lot of pressure on themselves. ESFJs are often very easy on others, but very hard on themselves. They expect far more from themselves than they do of anyone else.

ISTP

ISTPs are very laid-back individuals, who have a way of letting their stresses go. They realize that life is short, and simply want to make the best of it. They are constantly challenging themselves intellectually, enjoying the chance to learn and grow. The ISTP has a way of challenging themselves without putting too much pressure on themselves over it. They logically understand that no one is perfect, including themselves in this as well. They do their best to achieve their goals, but do not apply unnecessary stress because of this. ISTPs are confident individuals who are often very comfortable in their own skin.

ESTP

ESTPs enjoy making the most out of life, wanting to seek out new thrills and excitements. Although the ESTP enjoys having fun, they can be more internally hard on themselves than even they are aware of. They want to do their very best, often wanting to be impressive to others. This can make the ESTP feel like they aren’t good enough, so they often strive to better themselves. ESTPs do enjoy challenges, never wanting to stay still for too long. They may go back and forth between being hard on themselves, to being much more laid back about things.

ISFP

ISFPs are very caring and moral individuals, who strive to be sincerely good people. They are very carefree and open minded, but they can be hard on themselves sometimes. ISFPs care deeply about others and are very sensitive, which makes them conscious of how their actions will affect others. They do not want to do anything that might hurt someone, which can be challenging. The ISFP is often affected by their environment and may be hard on themselves if they are around judgmental people. The presence of people who put the ISFP down, might make them doubt themselves. If the ISFP is around others who care for them, they are very capable of letting go of their stress.

ESFP

ESFPs are extremely carefree and fun-loving individuals. They want to make life fun and enjoyable for themselves and everyone around them. The ESFP is rarely hard on themselves, not wanting to waste their energy on such negativity. They realize that nobody is perfect and are perfectly okay with that fact. The ESFP does care about being a good person, but they are often confident that they are such a person. They care about the people around them, striving to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. The ESFP is very fun and entertaining, making them less hard on themselves than some other personality types.
