How Much of a Perfectionist Each Personality Type Is

Everyone has their moments of wanting things to be perfect in their lives. Some types are much more prone to perfectionism than others. Here is how much of a perfectionist each personality type actually is.

INFJ

INFJs are definitely one of the most perfectionist types, constantly striving to make everything better. They set extremely high standards for themselves and really want to do their best at all times. This can cause them to be too hard on themselves, always feeling like they could do much better than they are. INFJs want to be perfect, even though they don’t hold this high standard for other people. They simply expect a lot out of themselves and will become upset if they feel like they have failed. They will often procrastinate something because they feel like they don’t have it just right.

ENFJ

ENFJs are definitely perfectionists and will often strive to control their environment. They want to always be doing their best, and will hold themselves to insanely high standards. ENFJs will often take on many different projects and will attempt to manage everything all at once. They are known as jugglers, constantly taking care of the needs of everyone around them. Their need to make everyone happy often makes them strive to be perfect at all times. They want to be all things to everyone, which is a lot for one person to handle. This can becoming overwhelming after a while, but ENFJs have a way of handling their struggle and bouncing back somehow.

INFP

INFPs can be known as selective perfectionists, they are only particular about their specific passions. INFPs will not strive to control everything around them and will often be able to let go of things that aren’t important to them. They won’t stress about the details of a project that holds no emotional value to them, and will certainly not be viewed as perfectionists in that situation. One the other hand, INFPs will often attempt to be perfect with the things that mean the most to them. If they enjoy playing music or making art, they may struggle to ever believe their piece is finished. They will continue to work on it, never feeling like they are ready to share it with others.

ENFP

ENFPs are creative individuals who are driven by the exploration of new ideas. They would never consider themselves perfectionists, they might even despise the term. They want things to have meaning and wanting something to be “perfect” often negates its true meaning. ENFPs will often strive to work hard and do their best at the things they are passionate about. In their careers they will often work as hard as they can, wanting to be the best at what they do. They enjoy being seen as capable in their profession and in their lives. They are not likely to be perfectionists, especially since they know they are doing their very best and that is more than enough.

INTP

INTPs are logical thinkers, but they do often struggle with perfectionism. Their need to be precise makes it hard for them to ever completely settle on finalizing things. INTPs are great at seeing the best path to get things done, but might struggle to finish those things themselves. They want to make sure everything is executed as excellently as possible, which makes them hesitate at times. INTPs may not be the most obvious perfectionists from an outside view, but they often struggle with perfectionism more than anyone realizes. They want to be sure that everything lives up to their standards, which can be rather difficult. Their struggle to be accurate can cause the INTP much more stress than even they are aware of.

ENTP

ENTPs definitely want things around them to be accurate and logical, which can make them perfectionists at times. They do understand that nothing can be perfect, so they will be much better at handling this than many other people. ENTPs often know when they are doing their best and will be able to move on from something rather quickly. They may struggle with finishing projects, quickly jumping from one thing to the next. ENTPs enjoy ideas and creativity, more than they enjoy getting something finished. They live in a world of possibility, which only leaves so much room for being a perfectionist.

INTJ

INTJs do have perfectionist tendencies, especially when it comes to their work. They want to execute their plans perfectly, which makes them set rather high standards. INTJs believe in their ability to accomplish their goals and will often push themselves to do better. They are constantly looking for ways to improve, which definitely makes them perfectionists. They know they are capable of doing great things and will not settle for less. They will also set high standards for the people around them, even though the standards they set for themselves are much higher. They expect the people in their lives to live up to their full potential.

ENTJ

ENTJs value efficiency and accuracy, which can cause them to be seen as perfectionists. They despise when people cannot accomplish tasks to their high standards and will become frustrated rather easily. ENTJs are great at getting things done, and will expect this from others as well. They work extremely hard and are always holding themselves to very high standards. What they expect from others, they expect much more than that from themselves. They are constantly striving to be better, and will not give up until they get to where they want to be. ENTJs will often push others to do their best as well, and are very good at commanding people.

ISFJ

ISFJs may be perfectionists when it comes to accomplishing important things in their lives. They want to be sure to keep harmony in their environment, striving to ensure that everyone is happy. ISFJs enjoy having things done the way they are used to, which can make them appear to be perfectionists. They simply enjoy being able to live by a schedule that they understand, because this helps them become more efficient. They care very much about the people around them, and will never hold those people to the standards that they hold themselves to.

ESFJ

ESFJs can have perfectionist tendencies, but are much less perfectionist than many other judging personalities. Their main focus is to care for their loved ones, and they will set that above everything else. They definitely hold themselves to unreasonable standards, wanting to be everything to the people they love. This can be challenging for ESFJs, often causing them more stress than they can truly handle. They rarely set high standards for their loved ones, but will set insane standards for themselves. This can become far too much pressure for them and everyone around them, since they cannot possibly live up to this perfect ideal. ESFJs will only desire perfection with things that mean the most to them, in some cases they might even slack off if it doesn’t seem valuable.

ISTJ

ISTJs can be perfectionists when I comes to the workplace, always wanting to do their very best. They want to be capable of being great at whatever they do, and will do whatever it takes to achieve this. They do understand when they are working hard though and will be capable of giving themselves appropriate credit. ISTJs will push themselves to be better, but will be capable of accepting when they have done their best and will not overdo it.

ESTJ

ESTJs are certainly perfectionists, constantly striving to be the best that they can be. They will consider themselves failures if they are not doing better than everyone around them. They want to be the very best, and will work as hard as they can to accomplish this. ESTJs push themselves very hard, but are often great at living up to their own standards. They also expect efficiency from the people around them, and might push others rather hard as well. ESTJs simply value hard work and efficiency in all aspects of their lives.

ISTP

ISTPs are very independent and laid back individuals, so they are rarely seen as perfectionists. They do value precision, and will work very hard in situations that matter to them. They are great at problem solving, and may hold themselves to high standards in certain areas. For the most part though, ISTPs want to be in peaceful situations. They enjoy feeling relaxed and taking time for themselves, which leaves very little room for perfectionism.

ESTP

ESTPs are certainly not perfectionists, but might have perfectionist tendencies from time to time. They work very hard and want to be seen as capable individuals. They want others to like them, which might make them obsess over doing things correctly. For the most part ESTPs live very much in the present moment, and won’t spend time obsessing over how they could be doing better than they are.

ISFP

ISFPs are not perfectionists by nature, since they are rather laid back individuals. They enjoy soaking up the beauty in life, and will often find enjoyment in the imperfections around them. They understand that nothing in life is perfect and will not hold themselves to these insane standards. ISFPs live very much inside their worlds and are extremely connected to their emotions. They would rather live life enjoying the present moment, than spending each second obsessing over imperfections.

ESFP

ESFPs are rarely perfectionists, since they would much prefer to enjoy the present moment. They want to be happy and enjoy themselves, which often means they don’t want to be held to ridiculous standards. They do their best to make others smile, and are great at soaking up their surroundings. ESFPs love to laugh and have fun, they are certainly not obsessed over being perfect.
