Here’s How Envious You Can Be, Based on Your Personality Type

While feeling envious towards someone isn’t simply type related, some personalities can be more prone to it. Here is how envious you can be, based on your personality type.

INFJ

INFJs aren’t likely to be envious of others, simply because they don’t begrudge people happiness. In most situations they enjoy seeing others happy, especially the people they care for. While INFJs often try to avoid being envious of others, there are times when they can’t quite help feeling this way. If someone the INFJ feels is selfish or uncaring seems to be reaping too many benefits from their negative behavior, it can make the INFJ feel both angry and even a bit envious of what they have. They are happier seeing people achieve success by doing the right thing, rather than by hurting others to get there.

ENFJ

ENFJs are not often envious of others, simply because they enjoy seeing people happy. They want to achieve great things, but they also like seeing their loved ones succeed as well. The only time ENFJs feel a twinge of envy, is when they witness someone who seems undeserving achieving many things in life. They can become frustrated and might begrudge this persons happiness, simply because that person is cruel towards others and selfish. ENFJs don’t like feeling this way though, and would rather just focus on the people they care for and work to make them happy.

INFP

INFPs aren’t often envious of others, and prefer to focus on their own choices. They don’t begrudge others happiness often, instead they prefer to see people enjoying themselves. When INFPs see someone immoral who continues to reap the benefits of their poor actions, it can however cause them to become a bit frustrated. INFPs want to see people achieve greatness by doing the right thing, and can become both envious and furious of someone who achieves something through negative means. INFPs want people to live their own lives, without taking advantage of others or hurting them.

ENFP

ENFPs are rarely focused on wanting to take things from others, and don’t begrudge people their happiness. ENFPs would rather take care of themselves instead of constantly trying to pay attention to what other people have. They enjoy seeing people follow their dreams, and simply want to do the same. ENFPs rarely become envious but there are times when they become a bit frustrated if they feel like they aren’t achieving as much as they had wished. For the ENFP it isn’t so much envy, as it is wishing they could achieve the same accomplishments. They don’t want to take it from someone else, they simply want to achieve it as well.

INTJ

INTJs are rarely the envious type, simply because they prefer to focus on achieving things themselves. They are internally focused, and don’t need to constantly compare themselves to others. INTJs would rather continue to grow and improve in order to accomplish their own goals. If the INTJ does start to feel envious of someone else, they simply take this as an opportunity to improve. They see it as a challenge and will take it on instead of feeling crippled by it. INTJs are more interested in accomplishing their own goals and desires, instead of obsessing over what other people have.

ENTJ

ENTJs are focused on getting things done themselves, and rarely become envious of others. If they do have moments where they start to feel envy towards someone, the ENTJ often takes this as a reason to improve. They often take on these situations as a chance to grow and become better. ENTJs don’t let anything stand in their way and often have a clear idea of what they truly want. The fact that ENTJs are so concise about their desires, helps them achieve a sense of focus and drive. Instead of becoming envious of someone else, they simply work to achieve those things they want and are missing.

INTP

INTPs don’t usually become envious of people and often feel drained by this sort of behavior. INTPs enjoy observing people and how they accomplish things, instead of becoming jealous over it. INTPs are constantly inside of their own minds, and will sift through information constantly. When they feel a bit jealous of what someone else has, they are more likely to become hard on themselves over it, rather than begrudge that other person’s happiness. They are introspective and intuitive people, who are mostly interested in growth and understanding.

ENTP

ENTPs rarely become envious of others, and dislike approaching things in such a negative way. ENTPs would rather observe someone who has achieved great things, and would prefer to learn from them as much as they can. They enjoy being able to explore new things and are constantly facing challenges that help them improve and grow. ENTPs don’t begrudge other people’s accomplishments, instead they seek to learn from them and improve upon their own actions. They are focused on achieving their goals, they simply want to do this in their own way.

ISTJ

ISTJs are often so focused on building their own futures that they rarely look to others for a comparison. There are times when they can become envious though, especially if someone continues to grow based on negative actions. ISTJs work extremely hard to accomplish their goals and improve their lives, and can become frustrated when others achieve things in dishonest ways. ISTJs do become envious at times when it seems someone is not entirely deserving of the things they have.

ESTJ

ESTs are very driven and hardworking people, who go after whatever they want in life. There are times when they become envious though, especially if someone doesn’t seem deserving of their accomplishments. They become frustrated when they see someone who has so much, and hasn’t actually worked hard to achieve any of it. ESTJs believe in being efficient and working towards their goals, and dislike when someone seem to accomplish things the wrong way.

ISFJ

ISFJs really aren’t the envious types, and often enjoy seeing people achieve positive things in life. They want to see their loved ones happy, and often work to help them get there. ISFJs don’t begrudge other people’s happiness, and rarely become envious of the things they have. There are times when they can put a lot of pressure on themselves to provide for those around them, which can be a bit overwhelming at times. When the ISFJ does feel like they are failing their loved ones, it can cause them to become jealous of others but rarely truly envious.

ESFJ

ESFJs enjoy seeing other people happy which is why they rarely become envious. When they see someone accomplishing something great, the ESFJ might put pressure on themselves to achieve something similar. They don’t do this in an envious manner, they simply want to please their loved ones and provide for them. ESFJs don’t feel the need to take from others in order to be happy, instead they simply want to find ways to improve and get things done.

ISTP

ISTPs aren’t the envious types, and prefer to focus on living in the moment. They do not see the accomplishments of others and become jealous, and they rarely compare themselves to others. ISTPs would rather go after their own goals, and dislike feeling the need to constantly look at what other people have accomplished. ISTPs enjoy being able to enjoy the present and want to experience things with a sense of freedom and independence.

ESTP

ESTPs can sometimes become envious of others, especially when they achieve the things that the ESTP wants. They become frustrated seeing people accomplish their own goals, especially if it seems like they are undeserving. ESTPs don’t intend to be this way, they simply have a hard time with how much pressure they put on themselves. They want to be seen as impressive, especially towards their loved ones. ESTPs try not to begrudge other people their happiness, instead they simply continue to work hard for what they want.

ISFP

ISFPs truly aren’t the envious type, and enjoy seeing other people happy. Their own goals are often rather different than those of society, which makes it easier for them to lack a sense of envy towards them. ISFPs want to feel free to make their own choices and enjoy being able to go after what they want in life. They live with a sense of passion and excitement, and dislike letting negativity into their hearts.

ESFP

ESFPs rarely find themselves envious of others, and prefer to focus on more positive emotions. ESFPs definitely go after what they want in life, but that doesn’t mean they want to take it from someone else. For the ESFP it is more valuable to enjoy the present and experience life to the fullest. They want to connect with their loved ones and often make each moment into something exciting and valuable.
