Enneagram Type 7 Male: The Enneagram Type Seven Man

The Enneagram is a categorization of personality types based on how people perceive and respond to the world and information they gather, as well their own emotions. This describes 9 different enneagram or personality types, and each one possesses certain core beliefs which are what drives them. These beliefs drive each type and also can be limiting at times, which is why understanding them is so important. It isn’t meant to lock people into those weaknesses or limitations, instead it is meant to help them improve and find ways to maintain a sense of healthy balance in their lives. It also helps to gain a deeper understanding of what motivates the people around you, and helps to comprehend why they contradict themselves at times. Knowing the enneagram gives a clearer sense of these inner motivations and even fears.

Understanding each type is important but it can also be important to understanding the variations. For certain types it might cause them to respond differently to the world being a type 7 man, and how they are perceived by others because of this. They value having their needs met, and don’t want to go without important things or suffer because of this. Understanding how this correlates with being a male type 7, can help to gain a deeper comprehension of how they respond to the world as well as how they can better manage their own emotions.

Type 7- The Enthusiast

The type 7 personality is very enthusiastic and excited about life and new experiences. They enjoy jumping into things, often being seen as spontaneous but at the same time they value being practical. They have an enthusiasm and excitement for things, wanting to really allow themselves to dive into whatever ignites their passions. They have a somewhat childlike enthusiasm which makes them fun-loving and charismatic people. They look at the world with a sense of wonder, instead of a cynical and jaded mindset. Their minds are constantly jumping from one thought to the next, and can be very intelligent people. They have an inner desire to explore and learn about the world, and this is often what drives them in life. Without a sense of adventure and an ability to explore their curiosities, the type 7 individual would feel empty and trapped. They believe that people should be able to follow their dreams and passions and don’t want to be held back. They are fast learners who enjoy being able to take on new projects and ideas, never feeling fully sated and always wanted to keep exploring new things.

The Type 7 Male Values

The type 7 male truly wants to be someone who inspires those around them to chase their dreams. They are enthusiastic people who have an infectious type of positivity which cannot be ignored. They are loving and affectionate towards those closest to them, wanting to do what they can to make others smile. They are naturally very supportive people, who truly love to be able to help others succeed. They are very capable of getting people excited and can often infect a crowd with that sense of positivity and joy. They are deeply passionate and want to seek out the things which will excite and inspire their daily lives. The type 7 male believes in going after their dreams, having this enthusiasm which seems capable of getting them through just about anything.

They are also curious people who have a desire to seek out knowledge and understanding. They are rewarded when they can dive into something and absorb as much as they can about it. They seem to constantly be on the move, which occasionally makes the type 7 male seem a little high strung. Most people notice this as them just being very active and on the go all of the time. They are often an unusual combination of curious, imaginative and yet very practical when they need to be. They understand the most logical steps to take and are capable of following through with this. Their sense of charm and enthusiasm makes it easy for the type 7 male to make friends wherever they go. While the type 7 male wants to seek out new and fun things to experience, they also know how to pull themselves back and make sure they are planning things out which are important to them.

The Type 7 Male Struggles

A big struggle for type 7 male is often feeling like a jack of all trades but a master of none. They are capable of diving into so many different subjects and tasks, and can even become excited about each of them. They are good at many things and interested in them as well, which makes it hard for them to decide which path is the right one for them to pursue. They are highly capable of comprehending new things and many different subjects, which makes them skilful and impressive people. While these qualities are wonderful, it can also make certain things in life a struggle for the type 7 male. They find themselves bouncing around at times, and people might misjudge this as being unable to commit. In reality they are struggling internally with which path is the right one for them to follow. Their sense of curiosity and their many options can really make it difficult to find which career they want to take on in a long term way.

Experiencing self-doubt is often a struggle for seven’s, as they find themselves unsure of how to really listen to their inner voice. They can doubt themselves and feel like they are going to make the wrong choice which can negatively affect themselves and those closest to them. This can be hard for the type 7 male, especially if they feel like they need to take charge and be the head of the household. Wanting to be someone who can care for others makes it difficult for them to handle the pressure at times. They care about making the right choice, but can struggle to figure out which choice that truly is for them and those around them. At their worst the type 7 male becomes cynical and can fee like nothing will really go right for them. They can find themselves unable to find what makes them truly happy, so they simply throw themselves into everything which comes their way. Constantly seeking the next high in their lives, they are spontaneous but sometimes to the point of recklessness and avoiding making any real commitments. They can be highly indecisive, because they see potential in so many different things around them and this can be easily misunderstood.
