Here’s How Nostalgic You Are, According to Your Personality Type

Here’s How Nostalgic You Are, According to Your Personality Type

Some people truly cherish the past and often experience nostalgic feelings towards those moments. There are others who are much more focused on the future, and rarely have these waves of nostalgia. Here is how each personality type responds to feelings of nostalgia.

INFJ

INFJs are generally not nostalgic people, simply because they are more focused on the future. INFJs can become distracted from the present as well, letting their mind wander to far off places. INFJs have brief moments of nostalgia, especially if there were times in their past where they felt truly happy. They might want to recreate those moments, and will try to find a way to build their future around it. INFJs do prefer to focus on the future though, and sometimes have a difficult time looking back on what has already happened.

ENFJ

ENFJs do have moments of nostalgia, especially when it comes to remembering time spent with loved ones. Most of the time ENFJs prefer to focus on the future, and want to strive to build a better life for themselves. They have a very go-getter attitude, and work hard to make their loved ones happy. They are almost always on the move trying to get things done and take care of their many tasks and errands. ENFJs can become so focused on building a better future that they fall to dwell on any nostalgic feelings.

INFP

INFPs can often be very nostalgic, and enjoy remembering past moments. They do not want to dwell on the past, but they do have times where the nostalgia strikes them. INFPs are very connected to their emotions, which can cause them to feel drawn to certain memories. These feelings can overtake the INFP and keep them there for a while. INFPs certainly do not become trapped in habits from the past, but they do enjoy reminiscing about days long gone by.

ENFP

ENFPs are definitely people who enjoy focusing on the present and building a better future. While ENFPs are more focused on moving forward with their lives, they do have waves of nostalgia that hit them. For ENFPs it isn’t always that they want to go backward, but simply that they enjoy remembering the past and the different moments they shared. ENFPs might even enjoy sharing these memories with someone they care for, as a way to feel even closer to them. ENFPs enjoy being able to bring back these memories, even if they don’t want to go backwards with their lives.

INTJ

INTJs are very focused on the future, and enjoy planning things out and building towards their goals. INTJs will likely only use the past as a way to improve, and rarely find themselves feeling overly nostalgic. Like anyone they can become drawn to memories, but INTJs don’t like to focus on these things. Most of the time they feel like dwelling on the past will simply hold them back from progressing and facing the facts. INTJs are logic minded people, who enjoy finding different ways to grow and implement their strategies- which often means being more future focused.

ENTJ

ENTJs enjoy moving forward in life, and can sometimes bury past memories because of this. They want to find ways to grow as much as possible, and enjoy building a future that they can be proud of. ENTJs are logical people, which makes them dislike dwelling too much on the past and distant memories. There are times when ENTJs can feel an overwhelming spur of nostalgia, especially during times when they are feeling a bit down. If the ENTJ remembers times from their past when they were truly successful and on top, they might feel waves of nostalgia for those times.

INTP

INTPs can be extremely nostalgic people, and if often comes to them when they least expect it. Although INTPs enjoy focusing on information that is in front of them, and using it to imagine different possible outcomes- they will have moments where the nostalgia overwhelms them. They will often enjoy looking back on happy times from their childhood, and will recall when things were much easier. INTPs like to remember simpler times, especially since adulthood can drag the INTP away from the future they had planned for themselves.

ENTP

ENTPs can definitely be nostalgic, and often enjoy going over different memories. They enjoy focusing on the future as well, especially since it holds so many possibilities. ENTPS simply enjoy being able to recall past memories in detail, even if they don’t want to mold their future around these memories. They can sometimes become overwhelmed with the past though, especially when the ENTP is alone and stagnant for too long. It is best if the ENTP does not let these feelings overwhelm them, and instead seeks out new and exciting hobbies to entertain them.

ISTJ

ISTJs are very nostalgic people, and enjoy reliving past moments. They are often very drawn to the past, and focus on using these memories to build a better future. ISTJs do best when they are using memories as a way to improve and approach tasks with a researched plan. ISTJs don’t become overwhelmed by nostalgic feelings, but instead enjoy these memories as a part of who they are. They often enjoy reliving certain memories, and will enjoy traditions as a way to inspire this nostalgia.

ESTJ

ESTJs are very nostalgic people, and often find ways to tie new memories with old ones. ESTJs often have certain memories come back to them throughout the day, which can be both good and bad. They definitely value the past as an important part of their lives, and enjoy recalling certain childhood memories. ESTJs might even have certain nostalgic feelings which make them wish they could go back and relive certain moments. ESTJs often enjoy tradition because of their affinity for nostalgia.

ISFJ

ISFJs are extremely nostalgic people, especially when it comes to family memories. They often want to relive those past moments, and because of this they value tradition very much. To an ISFJ the past is an important part of who they are, which can sometimes leave them stuck in these memories in some ways. ISFJs truly enjoy reminiscing over the past, and often want to find ways to bring their family together like when everyone was young and times were simpler.

ESFJ

ESFJs are definitely nostalgic people, and because of this they often enjoy certain family traditions. Their feelings of nostalgia are often tied to loved ones, which can cause the ESFJ sadness if those people are no longer close to them. Most days the ESFJ prefers to focus on the future, and strives to care for their loved ones. There are times when feelings of nostalgia and certain memories will flood the ESFJs thoughts, which can sometimes be a bit overwhelming for them.

ISTP

ISTPs are not usually nostalgic people, simply because they prefer to live in the present moment. Instead of obsessing about the past, ISTPs want to enjoy the moment they are living in. They prefer to focus on what they can change, instead of focusing on what is already gone by. ISTPS do have times when they enjoy reminiscing, but this is usually just because they can recall certain details very well. For them it is more important to soak up their surroundings, and enjoy the time they have rather than to dwell on things that do not affect them now.

ESTP

ESTPs enjoy living in the moment most of the time, and prefer to focus on the present. ESTPs do have times where they want to recall certain details to their loved ones, but this is often does as a way to share parts of themselves with them. ESTPs can often remember specifics about their past, and might feel like retelling these moments are important ways to share who they are. They are certainly more focused on the present though, and want to be able to enjoy their surroundings.

ISFP

ISFPs are extremely focused on living in the present and enjoying what the world has to offer them. ISFPs do have moments where they enjoy recalling past emotions and experiences, but are usually more focused on what is in front of them. ISFPs want to be able to experience the world, without feeling held back by the past or even the future. Although ISFPs do have moments of nostalgia, they aren’t very nostalgic people.

ESFP

ESFPs are people who enjoy living in the present, much more than they enjoy dwelling on the past. Even though they enjoy living in the moment ESFPs do have waves of nostalgia where they like to talk about the good ole days. ESFPs can often recall very specific details from their past, and might enjoy sharing these moments with their loved ones. They are excellent storytellers, and sometimes enjoy reliving moments that they treasure from when they were younger.
