Is Being Useful Important to You, Based on Your Personality Type

For some people being seen as useful is truly important, since it means they bring value to the lives of those around them. Not being useful can lead to fear of abandonment for some people, and so this is something which they truly want to acquire in their lives. Here is how important being useful is to you, based on your personality type.

INFJ

INFJs definitely want to be useful to others, since they care about being important to their loved ones. Being useful means that they are someone others need, which makes them feel like they are valued. INFJs can sometimes worry about abandonment, and so they want to make themselves useful in order to avoid this. Sometimes this can be done out of fear of losing these people they love, and so they want to make themselves needed so that they feel more secure in these relationships.

ENFJ

ENFJs definitely want to be useful to those around them, and this is often very important to them. They care about being someone that is both useful and helpful to the people in their lives. Sometimes this comes from a fear of abandonment, since ENFJs really don’t want to be left behind by the ones they love. It can be difficult for them to deal with this fear, and so they often strive to be someone who is needed and useful in order to feel more secure.

INFP

INFPs do care about being valued, but the idea of being useful can seem odd to them. They want to be someone who can provide value to the lives of others, but they don’t want to be considered useful as if they are an object. INFPs just want to be someone who can enrich the lives of those around them by using creativity and heart. For them it is about finding people they connect with through this, not about being someone who is deemed useful since this can feel a bit shallow to them.

ENFP

ENFPs do care about being valued and appreciated, but being useful can seem off to them. They don’t want to be someone others keep around just because they are useful, instead they want to be loved and valued for who they are. Providing some sort of usefulness or helpfulness can seem a bit upsetting for them. They don’t want to feel like they have to constantly keep up with this, working hard to be someone who is always useful or else they will be abandoned.

INTJ

INTJs don’t really care about being useful in a shallow way, but they do want to provide a sense of value. INTJs want to be useful by spreading the truth and providing accurate information to others. For them it isn’t about providing this value so that people won’t abandon them, instead it is often for much more personal reasons. They want to be someone who spreads the truth and in this sense they become very useful to those around them.

ENTJ

ENTJs do care about being useful because they want to be someone who can provide knowledge and value. They care about spreading the truth and strive to be efficient in everything they do. For the ENTJ being useful isn’t about constantly focusing on others, but more about being someone others can come to for advice and information. ENTJs do care about being useful in a practical sense, since spreading accurate information is something they deem very important.

INTP

INTPs want to be someone who is valued and important, but not necessarily described as useful. Being useful can seem a bit too practical and less inspiring for the INTP. They want to feel like they are making a difference and impacting the world, but being useful can feel a bit shallow to them. They don’t want to become someone that others use simply because they can be helpful, instead they want to be valued for more reasons than this.

ENTP

ENTPs do want to be someone who is seen as important and valuable, but sometimes the idea of being useful can seem a bit shallow. They care about making a difference and creating some sort of impact on the world around then. ENTPs just want to be valued by their loved ones and feel like they are someone who is important to them. For them it isn’t about being useful though, as this idea can seem a bit shallow and make them feel like they are being used for this.

ISTJ

Being useful is actually very important to the ISTJ, which is why they strive to work hard. They are practical people who want to provide for their loved ones in more practical and useful means. For the ISTJ being someone who is useful is definitely important, as they want to be valued for what they provide for those around them. They care about being able to help, and want to be able to really provide something.

ESTJ

ESTJs care about being useful to those around them, since they care about providing for others. For the ESTJ being someone who can be there and take care of the practical needs of their loved ones, is highly valuable. Being seen as useful is important to the ESTJ, as they don’t want to be someone who is just there and doesn’t make a positive difference for those they care for and connect with.

ISFJ

ISFJs really do want to feel useful to others, since they care about being someone who can provide for those around them. ISFJs often fear abandonment or being someone that is pushed out, and so they strive to provide something useful for the people they love. ISFJs just want to be someone who others can turn to and care about being able to provide value for those they love most. They do this from a place of caring and really do want to be useful and help make a difference for people.

ESFJ

ESFJs do care about being useful and often work hard to be someone who can provide for those around them. ESFJs often push themselves to provide for others and be someone who is helpful and there when they are needed. While they care about being useful for others, ESFJs also want to be valued for who they are. ESFJs might be afraid that if they are not useful or perfect, they will be pushed out and this can be scary for them.

ISTP

ISTPs don’t really need to feel useful in more practical ways, they just want to be someone who lives life on their own terms. They do care about being someone who can provide accurate information and spread the truth where they can. For the ISTP it is about living with a sense of independence but also working to help remove ignorance and correct people who are potentially spreading wrong information.

ESTP

ESTPs care about being someone who is useful to those around them, since they want to be valued. They work hard to provide some sort of value and enrichment to the lives of those they love most. ESTPs might not care about providing a sense of usefulness to strangers, but when it comes to those special people they are close to, they want to be someone who is seen as useful and truly important.

ISFP

ISFPs don’t really want to be useful in a practical way, they search for providing value in their own way. They want to be someone who is loved and appreciated for who they are, not because they are useful in some ways. While ISFPs care about being someone who can help their loved ones, they might find the idea of being useful as a bit offensive. ISFPs want to be someone that others love because of their heart and spirit, not because of the things they can do for them.

ESFP

ESFPs do want to be someone who helps their loved ones and can make their lives better. For the ESFP it isn’t about being useful, since this can seem a bit shallow. They want to be someone that others love and value because of their heart and spirit. They don’t want to be loved for what they can do for others, and so being useful can seem like a negative thing for the ESFP.
