INTP Intelligence: How INTPs Are Smart

When measuring intelligence it is important to remember that each person has their own unique type of intelligence. Just because someone might not be adept when it comes to sciences, doesn’t mean they don’t have an incredible grasp on languages. One person might be book smart, while the other is amazing at solving just about any problem which comes their way. There are so many ways in which people can be intelligent, and recognizing these different ways of using your mind can be an important step towards understanding people better. Just assuming someone isn’t smart because they respond to things differently than you, would be an ignorant thing to believe.

INTPs are often viewed as naturally intelligent people, which is owed in large part to the type of intelligence they often express outwardly. While being intelligent is not something which can be connected to personality types, the type of intelligence they are most commonly proficient in can sometimes be attributed to their type. There are many ways the INTP can be viewed as intelligent, and it is often something people can see outwardly expressed by how they remember so many facts and details. Of course, there are ways in which the INTP might struggle as well, but it is often in the areas most people don’t fully recognize as types of intelligence.

An Intense Thirst for Knowledge

INTPs enjoy spending a lot of their time researching and learning new things and they are capable of absorbing a lot of information at once. Being someone who can take in different details and recall them with ease, definitely causes the INTP to express a certain type of outward intelligence. Most people see them as almost intimidatingly smart, and can be overwhelmed by this at times. It is easy for people to become drawn to the INTPs inner mind, as it is an active and interesting place. They are constantly thinking through new ideas and really love being able to soak up as much information as possible. INTPs are introverts who like being alone rather often, and during this time they often like to research and read about different subjects. INTPs find themselves wanting to explore so many different ideas and details, not just focusing on one specific type of thing. They can enjoy literature, sciences, maths and many other subjects and simply want to be open to so many different pieces of information. Being someone who loves to absorb information and dive into different things, helps the INTP amass a lot of knowledge. This is something which certainly causes the INTP to appear intelligent in a very obvious and outward way. When they get into conversations with people they can recall many details and can easily bring up this knowledge in ways that can really baffle people.

INTPs rarely feel satisfied in what they have learned and are constantly hungry for more. This desire to continue reading and researching is definitely something which helps them stand out as intelligent. They can recall so many pieces of information about many different things, and are capable of using this in logical ways. They analyze the information and try to form their own theories, utilizing their intuition as a means of exploring the many different potential paths this could create.

They Like to Engage Mentally

INTPs love to engage using their minds and are not naturally the most emotionally focused people. Being someone who is more drawn to logic and information is definitely what causes the INTP to stand out as intelligent to others. They are not as skilled when it comes to understanding emotions, instead they want to focus on things they can tangibly understand. Being someone who wants to constantly engage their minds is definitely what helps the INTP gain so much knowledge and continue to learn about different valuable subjects. They also enjoy being able to engage mentally with others, rather than connect emotionally with them. This does help the INTP engage their minds and explore different potential ideas and paths. They are capable of understanding many different things and enjoy being able to search for ways to understand how people think and how their inner minds work as well. Being someone who constantly wants to find ways to engage their minds and thoughts, is also what makes the INTP intelligent and capable of understanding things from different perspectives. They crave a sense of understanding, and want to be able to dig a bit deeper when it comes to information. Whether this means spending time inside of their own complex thoughts, or learning to understand the thoughts and ideas of other people they deem intelligent and interesting.

Adaptable Thought Process

INTPs are adaptable people and enjoy being able to see things from different perspectives. This is something which makes them excellent at problem solving for just about anything. While others might become stuck on a problem because they can only see it from one angle, the INTP is capable of approaching things from many perspectives. They can see the various potential outcomes of a scenario, rather than just seeing things based on proven methods. Their minds will naturally explore the many possibilities and work to find the most useful path to solving the problem at hand. Being able to see things from different angles and perspectives is what helps the INTP find unique ways to problem solve, often in ways that others will fail to be able to accomplish. They can analyze the information and figure out the best course of action in order to make sure things are done efficiently. Being adaptable and able to see things from different points of view, definitely helps the INTP be viewed as intelligent to others. Impressive problem solving skills is certainly something which makes the INTP uniquely intelligent and is something which makes them capable of doing many things that others might struggle with.
