Awkward INFP: Why INFPs Are So Weird
Being called weird or awkward can certainly have negative connections to it, but to some people, it can be endearing and sets people apart from being ordinary. Certain personality types can become pegged for being strange simply because they have unique characteristics which don’t always fit into certain social norms. Of course, these traits aren’t only tied to personality types, as anyone can be seen as different or “weird” to those who don’t understand them or even to those who do. For some, it seems to be a common occurrence, as many people see them as weird, especially if they feel awkward around others and have tendencies that express this outwardly.
For the INFP, being seen as weird is not an uncommon thing, as most people can see them as unusual. INFPs don’t often conform to what people expect and have a natural desire to be themselves and be sincere. People who are fake and pretend to be something they are not seem dishonest and draining for the INFP. They would rather be true to themselves, even if this means being seen as strange or different. They don’t often mind feeling this way when they have close friends who appreciate who they are and what makes them unique. They might not always be someone that people understand or relate to on the surface, but INFPs have a lot to offer and a rich inner world that they want to share with someone special.
A Rare Personality
INFPs are not the most common personalities, instantly making them seem unusual to people who don’t understand them. How their minds see the world can sometimes make them feel alienated and not in connection with outside expectations. INFPs have strong inner morals, making it important for them to follow what they believe is right, even if that goes against what people expect from them. The expectations of social norms or the outside world just don’t fit into what the INFP wants for themselves or what they believe should be done. The fact that they are uncommon personality types sometimes makes it hard for them to easily fit in or conform. They stand apart, often appearing different than what people see as “common” because they, in fact, are not common at all. Being a rare personality type can make it hard for the INFP sometimes, never truly feeling like they fit in and struggling to find their place.
They Are Themselves
INFPs have strong inner morals, making it important to stand up for what they believe in. Their sense of self is a major part of the INFP and is not something they can deviate from. They develop a strong awareness of what they believe in and what expectations they have for themselves. Being true to themselves and doesn’t believe in conforming for others can make them appear “weird” to some people. Even if their behaviors are a bit unusual or different, the INFP feels the need to be themselves no matter what. Sometimes this means dressing differently, listening to their own music, or just focusing on the causes that matter to them most. They don’t do this intentionally to stand out. INFPs just need to be true to their hearts and follow the path they believe is right. This does make the INFP seem weird to some, but they are simply being themselves.
They Are Dreamers
INFPs are dreamers with rich inner minds and imaginations, which can make them seem strange or even awkward to others. They can seem like their minds are somewhere else because they often are. They have so much going on inside of their heads and hearts that it can be hard for them to pull out of this at times. They become so caught up in their thoughts that they can appear off somewhere else. INFPs daydream and spend time imagining different things, which can cause them to appear easily distracted. They also can get caught up in ideas and theories that seem strange or farfetched to others since, by nature, the INFP is a dreamer who enjoys imagining things that are outside of the box. They often have plenty of reasons behind these thoughts, but people might struggle to follow or understand the path the INFP took to get there. Being someone with such a complex inner imagination sets them apart at times and even makes them hard for people to relate to or connect with since they can appear to be somewhere else.
The Awkward INFP
The INFP, who seems to have some awkward tendencies, might do this because they are caught up in their own thoughts. They have so much going on inside their minds that they become disconnected from the world around them. They become so caught up in this rich world that the outside one becomes difficult to blend into. INFPs might feel awkward in certain social situations, feeling as if they need to behave a certain way to fit in. They also struggle to realize that they are different, which can make it hard to know how to behave around certain people when they feel judged. INFPs can seem reserved on the outside and withdrawn when people who know them realize just how much fun and vibrant they truly are. When the INFP feels awkward, it can be because they don’t entirely trust the people around them and are unsure of how they should behave. This becomes a self-conscious response rather than the INFP being comfortable about the situation. When they are around loved ones, the INFP can really come out of their shell, and while they might still have awkward times, they are perfectly comfortable exposing this to those people. It all depends on who they are surrounded by and if they feel safe being awkward without judgment or harshness.
