ISFJ Intelligence: How ISFJs Are Smart

When measuring intelligence it is important to remember that each person has their own unique type of intelligence. Just because someone might not be adept when it comes to sciences, doesn’t mean they don’t have an incredible grasp on languages. One person might be book smart, while the other is amazing at solving just about any problem which comes their way. There are so many ways in which people can be intelligent, and recognizing these different ways of using your mind can be an important step towards understanding people better. Just assuming someone isn’t smart because they respond to things differently than you, would be an ignorant thing to believe.

ISFJs aren’t always outwardly viewed as the more intellectual of the personality types, but they are far more complex than people realize or give them credit for. ISFJs can be highly intelligent people, and have different ways of absorbing information which can often surprise people. THey are simply more focused on practical things and being able to properly care for those around them. Being someone who is far more interested in tending to the needs of others, can cause the ISFJ to neglect focusing on the things which they personally value. This makes it so people don’t often outwardly see that the ISFJ has an intellectual side, and often enjoy knowledge and learning about different subjects and ideas. The fact that ISFJs are often more modest people can also make it so that others don’t outwardly recognize their intelligence.

Emotional Intelligence

ISFJs are often highly connected to the emotions of others and care about helping those around them. They have an internal awareness when it comes to how other people are feeling, and can read their emotions rather seamlessly. This strong sense of empathy is definitely something which shows a unique type of intelligence coming from the ISFJ. Not everyone is capable of connecting with the emotions of others and might struggle to really empathize. While some people might not consider this a type of intelligence because it isn’t as intellectually focused, it is actually very valuable and meaningful. This helps the ISFJ to understand people, and helps them to easily connect with all types of individuals. They can often navigate new situations and social settings, knowing how to best respond to those around them. It can also benefit the ISFJ in the workplace, as they know how to deal with their superiors and coworkers. They don’t struggle when it comes to understanding the needs of others and can anticipate these needs rather naturally. Where others might feel uneasy and unsure how to please people, this is something which comes naturally for the ISFJ. Being someone who understands others and has a strong sense of empathy, is definitely a skill which can be useful for the ISFJ.

While it is something which helps the ISFJ navigate different situations and often work settings, it also makes it easier for them to form close bonds with people. Those around them will recognize that the ISFJ cares about their well-being and their natural desire to help. ISFJs are seen as empathetic and considerate people, always ready to do whatever they can to ease the pain of others. This type of emotional intelligence is definitely something which sets the ISFJ apart from others, making them someone who is capable of building lasting bonds and making others feel truly supported and appreciated. It also fits them somewhat naturally into caretaker positions, making the ISFJ suited for careers which are a bit more demanding but are focused on aiding people with their needs.

Practical Intelligence

ISFJs are also very practically intelligent people, and are capable of comprehending pragmatic methods and situations. Where others might struggle with “common sense” the ISFJ often excels with this. They know how to get things done and will work hard to follow the steps needed in order to do so. They do not struggle with most practical situations, instead they know just how to navigate these things and tasks. ISFJs can problem solve when it comes to day to day life and the means necessary to get things done and ensure that everyone around them is cared for. ISFJs can really push themselves to accomplish just about anything with practical means, especially if someone they love needs their help. They can juggle so many things at once, working hard to remember the details and ensure that they stay on top of everything. ISFJs might put a lot of pressure on themselves to take care of everyone, but they are good at maintaining the practical needs of others and themselves. This might not appear like an impressive skill or type of intelligence, but it is something not everyone is capable of navigating properly. There are many people who might seem intellectual or outwardly intelligent, but they cannot seem to manage important daily tasks or practical things which are needed in order to really get things done. For the ISFJ this is something which comes naturally and helps them to handle themselves and maintain an accomplished lifestyle. They can take on challenges and ensure that they get things done properly, without constantly needing to turn to others to take care of them.

They Remember Details

ISFJs are often excellent at remembering important details, and cataloging this information where others might struggle. They can recall things which are valuable and important, able to process this information with ease. They might not remember things which are impractical and don’t serve a purpose, but will remember special dates and important facts about the people they love. This helps the ISFJ take care of things and tend to the needs of the people close to them. Where others might be spacey and incapable of remaining grounded, the ISFJ is aware of what is going on around them. They will remain focused on what is important and work hard to get things done without constantly finding themselves distracted by less important details.
