Here’s How Much of a Spendthrift You Are, Based on Your Personality Type
Some people are more inclined to spending their money in frivolous and somewhat crazy ways, while others prefer to be frugal. Here is how much much of a spendthrift you are, based on your personality type.
INFJ
INFJs aren’t usually irrational people, and so they prefer to maintain a sense of control over their actions. While they might believe in being frugal and try not to do anything that it frivolous. While INFJs believe in making smart choices, they do have times where they feel overwhelmed and so this does change their behavior. The INFJ who is under a lot of stressed might turn into a bit of a spendthrift, buying things they certainly cannot afford in order to feel better.
ENFJ
ENFJs don’t like being wasteful in the way they spend money, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t capable of it sometimes. They do have times where they might feel stressed or overwhelmed and this can cause them to resort to spending recklessly. For ENFJs this can be something that makes them feel truly guilty afterwards, especially if it affects their loved ones in some way. At the same time ENFJ have a hard time really holding back when they are truly stressed out.
INFP
INFPs aren’t always great at managing money, since they try not to let it mean all that much to them. Because of this INFPs might have times when they are a bit of a spendthrift, without really meaning to be. They might be excited about something they see and just want to spend money without really thinking it through. Most of the time though INFPs can be a tad reckless with their money, but they don’t usually go to the level of spendthrift.
ENFP
ENFPs actually can become spendthrifts, simply because they aren’t always the best at holding themselves back when they want something. If they have the funds in hand they might find themselves spending recklessly on things they don’t really need, but really want. ENFPs don’t do this to be selfish, they just don’t like obsessing over being frugal and actually want to enjoy life without constantly feeling like they need to follow the rules.
INTJ
INTJs are definitely not spendthrifts, especially if this is going to prevent them from living the lives they plan for. While INTJs do sometimes enjoy lavish things, they don’t waste money on them if it isn’t something they can readily afford. They do have a side to them which does enjoy the more expensive things in life, but they aren’t usually wasteful purchases, instead they are things the INTJ can use often on a daily basis- like nice cars or expensive tech.
ENTJ
ENTJs do enjoy being able to spend money a bit lavishly, but that doesn’t mean they do this recklessly. They want to have nice things but they also want to be sure they can safely afford these things before purchasing. ENTJs are often frugal people who try to be smart about their choices and the things they spend money on. Because of this they aren’t really seen as spendthrifts, since they try to be smart with their money.
INTP
INTPs do sometimes find themselves interested in more expensive things in life, but that doesn’t mean they are reckless or wasteful about it. They try not to be illogical with anything they do, and so for the INTP being wasteful with how they spend their money feels a bit selfish and foolish. At the same time INTPs do have moments where their more spontaneous side comes to play and they might find themselves wanting to be a little bit reckless.
ENTP
ENTPs are sometimes a bit reckless with their actions, mostly because they don’t like feeling controlled. If the ENTP feels like being a bit of a spendthrift, than they will for the sake of being able to experience things their own way. ENTPs do like to be logical with their choices but for the most part they aren’t afraid of taking risks if it is the more inspiring path to take. They do sometimes become a bit wasteful with their own money, but they don’t do it in ways that it will affect other people.
ISTJ
ISTJs are very frugal people who don’t like doing anything with purpose. They won’t be wasteful when it comes to their money and don’t like being frivolous with anything they do. To the ISTJ being a spendthrift is both foolish and selfish. They believe in being smart with their money and focusing on ways to build the future they want. They are goal-oriented people who prefer to maintain a sense of control over their own actions and their lives.
ESTJ
ESTJs are not usually the spendthrift type, they are often the opposite of this actually. They believe in being smart with their money and often prefer to save it rather than spend it on foolish things. ESTJs work hard to progress towards the future they want and try hard to remain focused on the task at hand. While they might enjoy having nice things, that in no way makes them wasteful with their money.
ISFJ
ISFJs are often conscientious and practical people, who believe in considering those around them before acting. They don’t like doing things which could harm or take away from the people they love, and so they are highly unlikely to be the spendthrift type. For the ISFJ it is important to provide for their loved ones and so they rarely do anything that is reckless and are especially not wasteful when it comes to money.
ESFJ
ESFJs believe in taking care of their loved ones and so they try hard to be there for whatever they might need. They often work hard to save money and find ways to build a cushion, since this provides them with a sense of comfort. ESFJs often worry about being able to protect and care for their loved ones, and this concern prevents them from doing reckless or wasteful things. Because of this the ESFJ is certainly not the spendthrift type, instead they are often more frugal where it matters most.
ISTP
ISTPs do have tones where they might be a bit reckless or even wasteful, simply because they feel inclined to do so. ISTPs follow whatever path excites or inspired then most, so sometimes this means being a little bit of a spendthrift. If there is something the ISTP wants in that moment, they might not really consider if they should purchase it or not before they actually do.
ESTP
ESTPs can definitely be spendthrifts, mostly because they often act without really thinking about consequences. ESTPs do whatever feels exciting and brings them joy in the moment, and this can lead to reckless or wasteful spending. If they really want something they are likely to buy it without considering if it is a wise choice to do so. ESTPs do sometimes have to pull themselves out of financial struggles because of their occasionally spendthrift behavior, but they often do their best to figure this out.
ISFP
ISFPs can be somewhat reckless with their money and sometimes even their life choices. This is simply because ISFPs go after whatever inspires them in that moment and don’t like allowing doubt to hold them back. Even though it might not be the wisest choice, the ISFP will find themselves acting before really thinking about the ramifications of those choices. This does cause them to be spendthrifts sometimes, especially if there is something they really want.
ESFP
ESFPs can be somewhat reckless and spontaneous people, who enjoy going after what they want in life. This sometimes causes the ESFP to make decisions without really considering what the consequences might be. ESFPs are often spendthrifts, who find themselves making sometimes reckless or wasteful purchases simply because they become excited in the moment. They live so much in the present and so they find themselves acting on impulse often times.
