Here’s How Important Closure is to You, Based on Your Personality Type

For some people getting closure is truly important in order to move on. For others it is something they can gain within themselves instead of having to connect with others to attain it. Here is what closure truly means to you, based on your personality type.

INFJ

For INFJs closure is definitely important to them, more so than they often realize. Sometimes the INFJ will have to move forward without attaining the closure they need, and it leaves them feeling frustrated. They need to make things clear and need to be able to express their feelings before moving forward. INFJs especially need closure when someone has hurt them or affected them in a negative way. Without this they can feel like they are still strongly connected to that person and will struggle to completely move on from what happened between them.

ENFJ

ENFJs often need a sense of closure before they can truly move on from something that happened to them. When they make connections with people it is difficult for them to let go, even if they need to. Without some sort of closure the ENFJ will definitely hold onto those connections without finding a real way to move forward from the situation. ENFJs often need to express their feelings and find a way to really make closure between them and the person who they need to disconnect from or move on from.

INFP

For INFPs closure is often something they need to work through within themselves. While it can sometimes be important for them to express their feelings towards someone in order to move forward, it is something they still have to process internally. INFPs feel things very deeply but their emotions are internal and not so much focused on the responses and behaviors of others. They usually need time to themselves in order to process everything and figure out what they are truly feeling. When they do realize how to gain closure it is often something they need to take care of themselves.

ENFP

ENFPs might have a hard time actually finding closure for most things, and might not feel entirely like they need it. ENFPs make connections and bonds but they don’t feel like they have to completely disconnect when they move forward. They make the things from their past a part of who they are, and at the same time they strive to move towards a better future. For the ENFP closure from others isn’t always important, since they live life on their own terms. When they feel like it is time to move forward it is often something they need to work through internally.

INTJ

For INTJs closure is often important for certain things, especially if it holds them back from getting things done. They don’t like feeling like something is holding them back, but at the same time they struggle to fully understand their own emotions. The INTJ might need closure with someone but they aren’t always great at understanding it. They will do their best to attain the closure they need with most things, and will work towards moving on with their lives. INTJs simply aren’t always great at recognizing when they haven’t fully expressed things the way they need to.

ENTJ

ENTJs do believe that closure is important, at least with the practical things they recognize. When something comes to an end the ENTJ needs to make sure all of the loose ends are tied up. This helps them attain a sense of closure and helps to move forward with their lives. ENTJs aren’t great at recognized their own emotions, which can cause them to miss out on some deeper sense of closure that they might need between themselves and people they care about.

INTP

INTPs might not be great at recognizing their own emotional needs, which can make their need for closure less apparent to them. The INTP might continue to live their lives with truly attaining the closure that they require in order to move forward entirely. They might still remain connected to people or things from the past, making it challenging to let go of some things. INTPs simply live their lives focused on possibilities and have rather rich inner minds. They aren’t always good at focusing externally, since there is already so much going on inside of their heads.

ENTP

ENTPs don’t necessary recognize their need for closure, since they aren’t great at connecting to their own emotions. They can sometimes brush things aside and neglect to focus on the things that they are feeling. The ENTP might need to gain some sense of closure before moving forward, but they won’t really take notice of this. Instead they often continue to live their lives doing their own things and might bounce from one situation to the next without really finishing.

ISTJ

ISTJs definitely do need a sense of closure, especially since they like to keep all of their loose ends tied up. When something is coming to an end the ISTJ needs to be sure to make this clear for themselves and others. They often acquire a sense of closure in their own way, and are often good at recognizing when it is time to move on with their lives. ISTJs can sometimes hold onto the past, but this is often in a reminiscent manner.

ESTJ

ESTJs do need closure in order to fully move on, and need to be sure that something is truly over. The ESTJ will often find a way to make sure everything is finished and they get the closure they might need. They can be very concise and clear when they are expressing themselves, which does help them when it comes to feeling a sense of closure and completion.

ISFJ

ISFJs do often require closure in order to truly move forward with their lives. They need to feel like they have fully expressed themselves and need to receive a sense of expression from the person they need closure from. ISFJs need to make sure something is over in order to actually move forward with their lives. They don’t like leaving things left open-ended and often feel very frustrated and even confused by this. They might struggle to express their inner feelings at times, but this can often be vital for the ISFJ to gain closure.

ESFJ

For ESFJs closure is definitely very important and often required for them to move on. When they feel like things have been left unsaid it can leave them feeling anxious and frustrated. They need to understand a situation and a person fully, in order to gain closure from what happened between them. Sometimes it takes time for the ESFJ to really feel this closure, and they often need to express themselves and hear what the other person has to say in order to do so.

ISTP

ISTPs don’t always recognize their own emotional needs, which causes them to avoid attaining closure most of the time. They don’t feel like griping or whining over things that might hold them back, instead they want to live in the present. ISTPs aren’t likely to feel like they need to gain closure from someone else, and would just rather move on and live in the present.

ESTP

For ESTPs closure isn’t always important, especially with things they don’t actually want to end. ESTPs live their lives in the present moment and often have a hard time connecting to the past. They don’t like letting things hold them back and want to enjoy living with a sense of adventure. For the ESTP closure might be important but they aren’t likely to recognize it. They don’t entirely let go of things or people, they just continue to live their lives.

ISFP

ISFPs might need closure but they don’t always find a way to attain it. They try to gain closure internally instead of seeking out others to help them. ISFPs sometimes remain connected to people in their lives, and don’t always find it easy to let them go. They live their lives in the moment and want to seek out things that inspire them. ISFPs follow their hearts no matter what they do, and try to live without letting things hold them back.

ESFP

ESFPs don’t often attain the closure that they might need with some people or things, mostly because they enjoy living in the present. They aren’t always great at trying to gain closure by expressing themselves, especially when they want to avoid drama. ESFPs just want to enjoy their lives and want to seek out passion and adventure anyway they can. Instead of focusing on completing things or holding people back, they just want to find their happiness.
