How Each Personality Type is Valued in the Workplace

We all behave differently in the workplace, but sometimes we can feel like we aren’t being valued enough. Here is how well each personality type is valued in a work environment.

INFJ

INFJs often try very hard in the workplace, and are likely even good at their job. They might be valued by their superiors, because of their intelligence and ability to get things done. Where INFJs struggle though, is likely in the social setting of the workplace. They might find themselves trying too hard to appeal to people who do not entirely understand their need for space and alone time. If their coworkers enjoy their presence, they might expect the INFJ to be constantly bubbly and friendly. They are capable of this for a short while, but they will soon become exhausted. If they cannot find the proper workplace boundaries, this can become rather taxing on the INFJ.

ENFJ

ENFJs are extremely hardworking people, and are constantly pushing themselves to be their best. This often causes them to be very valued in the workplace. They are often the go-to individual, and will likely move up the career ladder very quickly. ENFJs rarely have a hard time in the workplace, and are comfortable making their coworkers and superiors like them very much. Their ability to handle multiple tasks at once, is like to impress everyone around them.

INFP

INFPs may struggle to be valued in a workplace that is very strict and regimented. If they are not able to highlight their true talents- the INFP might find themselves frustrated with their environment. They are intelligent people, but they have a tendency to daydream. If their job is not fulfilling their own emotional needs, the INFP may struggle to fit into the structured environment. This can cause people to underestimate, and undervalue the INFP in their workplace.

ENFP

ENFPs are usually very valued in their work environment. They are charismatic people, which often gains them the favor of their bosses and even coworkers. The ENFPs natural ability to get along with others, truly helps them when it comes to their careers. If they are working in a job that showcases their skills, they will definitely be able to impress the people around them. They might make a small mistake here and there- but only because they are distracted by something more interesting. Their ability to adapt will help the ENFP thrive in their work environment.

INTJ

INTJs are often seen as highly valuable in their workplace. They are likely very intelligent individuals, which makes it easy to impress their superiors. People will admire their ability to get things done, to rather excellent standards. This often makes it easy for the INTJ to climb the career ladder relatively quickly. If the INTJ is not brought challenging work, they will likely become bored- which is not a good thing for them. They need a place where they can constantly grow and develop their own skills.

ENTJ

ENTJs are valued very well in the workplace- likely because of their intelligence and drive. ENTJs want to be the absolute best at their jobs, and will often push hard to accomplish their goals. They have a natural leadership ability, which makes them eager to move up the ladder. They are often very skilled at leading a team, and will be able to navigate this very well. ENTJs rarely struggle in the workplace and are most likely valued by everyone around them.

INTP

INTPs are not always valued in the workplace- especially if they are feeling stifled by their bosses. INTPs require plenty of intellectual freedom, and room to explore new ideas. If they are feeling trapped- they might not perform their tasks as quickly as they are capable of. INTPs often struggle to follow the orders of someone they are smarter than- and this can become an issue in the workplace. INTPs are valued if they find a job where people fully understand their creative genius and their ability to analyze into the future. If they are in a stiff or rigid workplace- they will not be appropriately valued.

ENTP

ENTPs are often valued very well in the workplace- if they are capable of keeping still long enough. They are highly skilled individuals, but they are also very charismatic. This can often help the ENTP get away with a lot, since people enjoy their presence and their intelligence. If they are in a job that they are naturally good at, the ENTP will feel excited to showcase their skills to everyone around them. The only struggle for the ENTP, is that they do get bored rather easily. They will likely move on to another career, but will probably be valued just as well there.

ISTJ

ISTJs are highly valued in the workplace, since they have a knack for getting the job done. People will admire their ability to focus on their work- and perform their tasks accordingly. The boss will likely love the ISTJ, since they always get their work done to the highest of standards. It is rare for the ISTJ to be undervalued in the workplace- since this is where they truly excel. They are naturally focused on working hard- which makes them amazing employees and coworkers.

ESTJ

ESTJs are often valued very well in the workplace- especially since they have a natural drive to excel. ESTJs want to be the very best at everything they do and will work hard to climb the ladder. They want to be able to impress their bosses and their coworkers with their skills. This causes the ESTJs to become a valuable member of the work team, and will likely be seen as irreplaceable.

ISFJ

ISFJs are hardworking people and because of this they are likely very important in their job. They might not be valued as highly as they should, especially if they are afraid to speak up. ISFJs natural drive to work hard, makes them amazing in the workplace. If they are in an environment where people notice this, they will certainly continue to thrive. They can sometimes be pushed aside though, because they don’t like to brag about their accomplishments.

ESFJ

ESFJs are often very valued in the workplace- since they will likely take on many different tasks. They have a hard time saying “no”, even to their bosses. If they feel like they have to push themselves harder to be seen as valuable, then they will do whatever it takes. ESFJs are not afraid of work competition, and will likely continue to work as hard as they can to be seen as irreplaceable.

ISTP

ISTPs prefer to allow their skills to speak for themselves, without having to brag about their abilities. If they are in a job that readily highlights their abilities, it will certainly cause them to be valued in their workplace. They need plenty of freedom and space, and if they are allowed this they will shine. Having a boss who is rigid might be difficult for the ISTP, but they are easily liked by others regardless.

ESTP

ESTPs are often very well valued in the workplace- especially if they are in a job that pushed them to succeed. ESTPs enjoy being successful, and know how to work hard when they have to. Their drive and charisma, makes them very enjoyable people in the workplace. Their bosses will often only see the best, and will value their work ethic very much.

ISFP

ISFPs are often undervalued in a work environment, simply because they do not speak up. The ISFP might even be doing the work of others people, but they are afraid to express this at first. After a while though, this will likely frustrate the ISFP, and they will find themselves unloading all of this frustration. They need to be in a place that highlights their skills, and gives them enough room to breathe.

ESFP

ESFPs do best in a work environment that showcases their skills. If the ESFP is in an environment where they do not feel happy, then they will likely flounder. However, if the ESFP feels comfortable, they will often be seen as extremely valuable in their work environment. They are friendly people, and this often wins over their bosses and coworkers. Their ability to make other people smile or laugh, is something that is often highly valued. They also know when to be serious if it is very important, which makes them excellent in a work environment.
