Here’s How Quickly You Become Emotionally Drained, Based on Your Personality Type

Some people seem to become emotionally drained rather quickly, while others can withstand a lot before being exhausted in this way. Here is how quickly you become emotionally drained, based on your personality type.

INFJ

INFJs can actually feel emotionally drained rather quickly, since they are sensitive to the emotions around them. They can actively feel the emotions of the people in the room, and are always thinking about their loved ones in this way as well. This can cause the INFJ to feel drained rather quickly and need time to themselves. A big reason why the INFJ needs this alone time is because of their emotional energy being sapped so easily by the presence of others. This is made even worse by the fact that INFJs truly care about people and want to do what they can to help them out.

ENFJ

ENFJs do become emotionally drained quicker than people would realize. While the ENFJ is constantly tending to the needs of others, they also are sensitive to those people’s emotions. ENFJs can become emotionally drained because of their ability to feel the feelings of everyone around them without even trying to do so. This can cause the ENFJ to feel quickly sapped of their emotional energy, and will leave them needing time to themselves. The unfortunate thing is that ENFJs rarely take this time to be alone and recharge, since they are constantly responsible for everyone around them.

INFP

INFPs definitely can become emotionally drained, but they have more emotional energy than people might realize. INFPs are sensitive to everything around them but they can often handle this better than others because they are so used to these emotions. INFPs spend a lot of time truly experiencing their own feelings and working to understand them, which helps them develop an inner strength and conviction. INFPs do become drained after a long time spent with others, but this is often because they need time alone to process information and their own thoughts.

ENFP

ENFPs can certainly handle a lot when it comes to their own emotions, and have higher emotional energy than many other types. They can often withstand a lot since they have a strong sense of their own inner emotions and their morals. ENFPs will often be good at sifting through their own feelings and at the same time not allowing the emotions of others to pull them down. They care about people deeply but at strangely skilled at finding ways to avoid letting these feelings drain them too much. When the ENFP does feel emotionally drained they will find a way to get the space and time alone that they need.

INTJ

INTJs are not very focused on their emotions or the emotions of others, and would rather look at facts and logical information. For the INTJ it can become emotionally draining if someone tries to force them to express their feelings. This type of situation can definitely exhaust the INTJ emotionally, since they are comfortable having to express themselves. It can also be draining for the INTJ to hear someone else discuss their feelings for a long time. They need to have space from these sort of long winded emotionally focused conversations, and need time to recharge themselves.

ENTJ

ENTJs are more focused on building their goals and looking at facts, and don’t spend much time diving into emotions. This can actually cause the ENTJ to be a bit more sensitive when certain emotions are unloaded onto them. They can become anxious when someone is overly emotional, and need to find a way to retreat away from this behavior. ENTJs aren’t really comfortable with emotions, which can actually cause them to become emotionally drained very quickly when these feelings are presented to them or when they are asked to express their own feelings.

INTP

INTPs focus more on logic and reason and can find themselves avoiding emotions entirely. They have a hard time diving into their own feelings, and this can actually leave them drained rather quickly. When the INTP is coerced into discussing their emotions and analyzing them, it can cause them to become emotionally exhausted rather quickly. INTPs just aren’t as comfortable with their emotions as they are looking at facts and things they can prove and understand.

ENTP

ENTPs can certainly become emotionally drained easily, especially when they are convinced to discuss their own feelings. They are often better at listening to others talk about their emotions, but only for a short amount of time. ENTPs are more interested in logic and intuition, and struggle when it comes to focusing on feelings. When the ENTP discusses their own emotions and attempts to understand them, it can be good for them but likely leaves them feeling a bit drained and needing time to themselves to recharge.

ISTJ

ISTJs are much more focused on practical things and facts, which leaves them drained easy by emotions. When the ISTJ has to listen to someone express their feelings for a long time, it can certainly leave them feeling exhausted. This isn’t because they don’t care, it is because they don’t see a solution to these emotional struggles. ISTJs would rather be able to help someone in a practical way, since they know these issues can actually be solved.

ESTJ

ESTJs definitely struggle when it comes to emotions and can become drained quickly by people who constantly express their feelings. ESTJs would rather be presented with a practical problem, which they can solve and actually help their loved ones in some way. When it comes to emotional struggles the ESTJ is fully aware that these things cannot just be solved, and this leaves them feeling drained and a bit helpless in these situations.

ISFJ

ISFJs do need plenty of time to themselves and can become emotionally drained after a while. They often push through this because they care so deeply about the people around them and do not want to leave them feeling abandoned. ISFJs simply feel everything so deeply and can often sense the emotions of their loved ones, which can leave them feeling exhausted after a long day. They do so much to tend to the needs of everyone else, which can cause them to become drained after some time.

ESFJ

While ESFJs are focused on the emotions of others, this can actually leave them feeling drained after a while. They focus so much on caring for others that the burden of their emotions can leave the ESFJ feeling extremely drained. Always being so concerned about the emotions of others is something that puts a lot of pressure and stress onto the shoulders of the ESFJ. When they feel this emotionally drained they need to retreat for a while and actually require alone time or time spent with someone who does not leave them feeling drained.

ISTP

ISTPs can become emotionally drained if they are forced to discuss their feelings for a long time. When someone coerces them into expressing themselves it can leave the ISTP feeling overwhelmed. They don’t focus on emotions all that well and have a hard time understanding them. The ISTP would rather focus on more practical things and enjoy looking at the facts and evidence.

ESTP

ESTPs can become emotionally drained by their loved ones because they often feel like they do a lot for them. When someone is emotionally needy it leaves the ESTP feeling overwhelmed and completely drained. They often try to focus more on facts and practical means, in order to avoid this sort of emotional hangover. ESTPs need to feel a sense of independence in their lives and cannot feel constantly responsible for the well-being of others.

ISFP

ISFPs are very comfortable with their emotions and spend a lot of time trying to understand them. This helps the ISFP process their feelings and work through them without becoming emotionally drained. This does help the ISFP move forward and cope with a lot of emotions throughout their lives. When ISFPs struggle is when they have to focus on someone who is overwhelmed for a long time, since they do need plenty of time to themselves to feel energized.

ESFP

ESFPs are very comfortable with their own emotions, which can make it easier for them to maintain a high emotional energy. They are connected with their own feelings and take time to understand and process them. This actually helps the ESFP feel less emotionally drained and helps them move forward without needing time to recharge. ESFPs enjoy being around their loved ones and want to maintain a sense of happiness and harmony. When the ESFP does feel drained it is often because someone is trying to force negative energy onto them.
