Here’s How Each Personality Type Responds to a Crisis

Some people become fearful in a crisis, while other’s react with focus and drive. Here is how each personality type responds to a crisis.

 

INFJ

INFJs have a natural ability to predict future occurrences, which often causes them to feel more prepared for certain crisis situations. INFJs main focus is often for the wellbeing of their loved ones, which causes them to want to make sure they are taken care of during a bad situation. When things become frightening and others are panicking, the INFJ is likely doing what they can to ensure the people they care for are okay. They definitely dislike being in a crisis, but they will do what needs to be done. They are more likely to be upset when they cannot do anything to assist other people.

ENFJ

ENFJs will often jump into work mode when a crisis occurs, and will do whatever it takes to get things done. They will not hesitate to take initiative, and will find themselves pushing to take care of everything. ENFJs can become extremely focused and driven during a crisis situation, and are also the people most likely to be taking care of everyone else. While some people are terrified when things go into a state of emergency, ENFJs are completely aware of what is going on. They will not back down and will not give up, which makes ENFJs great to have around in a crisis.

INFP

INFPs can become rather anxious during a crisis, especially if someone they trust is telling them the situation is bad. INFPs want to take the situation seriously, and don’t want to feel like they have failed by being too relaxed about it. They will likely try to do what they can to help, and will especially do so if their loved ones seem to be in a panic. The INFP wants to be supportive and helpful when things become too stressful, and will do what they can to help. They certainly dislike emergency situations, and will likely want to isolate themselves from everyone else when something happens.

ENFP

ENFPs will likely become very irritated by the panic that ensues around them. While everyone else is fearfully scurrying and fighting one another, the ENFP is likely trying to remain calm. They certainly want to get things done and will be there for their loved ones when they are in need, they simply do not see a reason to panic. They much prefer to remain calm in these sorts of situations, since the ENFP realizes that is the only way to take care of one another. They are caring people, and are even more compassionate during a crisis situation, but that doesn’t cause them to become fearful or panicked.

 

INTJ

INTJs hate being unprepared and are likely to do plenty of research during a crisis situation. They will dive into absorbing all of the information they can in order to understand exactly what is going on. INTJs want to be completely prepared and dislike simply listening to other people. They will figure out the best course of action and will find an efficient way to execute it. During a crisis the INTJ might seem a bit on edge, and will likely want everyone around them to give them space to figure things out. They want to be sure that they are responding properly, and dislike being unaware of the proper steps to take.

ENTJ

ENTJs certainly do not panic in a crisis, but they dislike being left unprepared. They are not afraid of being aggressive if that is what they need to do in order to care for their loved ones. ENTJs can be rather protective people, and dislike if anyone tries to push them around. They understand that people can become a big forceful during a crisis, and are fully prepared to respond to this. They will likely follow a plan and will execute it as efficiently as possible. They will do what they can to take care of their loved ones, and aren’t afraid to get in someone’s face if they have to.

INTP

INTPs might have a hard time taking a crisis situation seriously, and will wait it out until things become more intense. They are naturally inclined to observe their surroundings before jumping into a situation. They prefer to pay attention to what is happening, and will require time to process the information. INTPs don’t want to become panicked, and dislike overreacting to a situation. They often keep their emotions bottled up, so even if they are nervous most people won’t be able to notice it. INTPs are certainly capable of handling themselves in a crisis, if they are actually decide to take it seriously.

ENTP

ENTPs dislike becoming panicked, and do not want to escalate a situation. They will likely remain calm during a crisis, but might internally feel overwhelmed. They are intelligent people, and because of this they prefer to stay aware of what is going on around them. ENTPs thrive on research, and will do their best to understand the intricacies of the situation. They will likely become more nurturing during a crisis and want to ensure that their loved ones are safe and protected. ENTPs are always willing to make a stressful situation into a joke though, and prefer to use humor as a coping mechanism.

 

ISTJ

During a crisis ISTJs are likely to follow all of the appropriate protocols. They want to be focused on getting things done, and will not hesitate to jump into action. ISTJs are rule followers, and are naturally skilled at maintaining a sense of order. They will calmly recognize how to get things done and will do what they can to properly execute this. ISTJs do not want to create panic, and will likely try to remain calm when things get serious. They will certainly take the situation seriously, but that doesn’t mean they will become overly emotional about it.

ESTJ

ESTJs are likely to jump into action and try to play a leadership role when things get serious. During a crisis the ESTJ can be a bit rough and intense, but they are simply trying to be efficient. They can become frustrated if their loved ones are not following their instructions and will try to push in order to get everything done. They prefer order in their surroundings, and hate when things become too messy or unclear. The ESTJ will definitely take the crisis situation seriously, but they aren’t likely to panic like many other people.

ISFJ

ISFJs can become a bit anxious during a crisis, and will want to do what they can to take care of their loved ones. They are naturally worrying people, especially when it comes to their families. They want to be sure that everyone they love is safe and taken care of, and will likely be a bit pushy during a crisis. The ISFJ does not want to create a panicked environment, but they do want to be sure that everyone is safe. This can cause them to become focused on getting as prepared as they possibly can.

ESFJ

ESFJs are mainly focused on caring for their loved ones, and can become surprisingly focused during a crisis. They might not become nervous at first, but will jump into action when they realize the severity of the situation. The ESFJ might seem a bit high strung during a crisis, but they will certainly be capable of getting things done and taking care of everyone’s needs. ESFJs are very focused people and are not afraid of pushing forward in order to take care of their loved ones. It can be a bit overwhelming for them, but they will certainly not become afraid during a crisis, and will actually become more driven.

 

ISTP

ISTPs are likely to remain rather calm during a crisis, and might have a hard time taking it seriously. They dislike responding to things emotionally, and might even seem too relaxed. While other people are scurrying to get things done, the ISTP is likely taking small steps to resolve the situation. They certainly are not the ones to panic, and would much prefer to take things one step at a time. The only negative thing about most ISTPs in a crisis, is that they are likely to wait until last minute to respond to the situation.

ESTP

ESTPs will likely become focused on research and understanding the facts during a crisis situation. They will want to understand everything and find a way to respond accordingly. ESTPs certainly do not want to become panicked, but they also dislike being unprepared. Instead of allowing the situation to take control, the ESTP will do what they can and be responsible for their actions. They can be rather reckless people, but are likely to try and be focused during a crisis.

ISFP

ISFPs will likely want to retreat inward during a crisis situation, and dislike being surrounded by anxious people. They can become upset by the crowds and the panic around them, and simply want to find a safe place to relax. ISFPs will certainly take the crisis seriously, but they dislike feeling the nervous energy around them. If they cannot find a way to escape the chaos, the ISFP will likely become very closed off and might not even be capable of reacting much to their surroundings.

ESFP

ESFPs are very laid back people, but can often become stressed in a crisis situation. When everyone around them is panicking the ESFP will become concerned for the safety of themselves and their loved ones. They don’t want to become nervous but oftentimes the ESFP becomes caught up in the drama around them. If there are people telling them they should be worried, the ESFP will likely react to this. They might even become so anxious that their loved ones need to find a way to calm them down.
