Personality Types and Sports

Here’s How Each Personality Type Feels About Sports

Some people are completely obsessed with sports, while others can’t stand the mere mention of them. Here is how each personality type feels about sports.

INFJ

INFJs can sometimes have a natural aversion to team sports, and dislike the “bro-like” obsession with it. If the INFJ takes the time to look though, they will likely find a sport that they can connect with. There needs to be something about the sport that draws them to it and ignites a passionate side of them. INFJs will not usually enjoy watching or playing sports just because it is the popular thing to do. When an INFJ is interested in a sport it is simply because they have found something about that game that intrigues them. INFJs often admire skill and talent, which can be a good reason for them to become interested in sports. Seeing people who impress the INFJ, will definitely keep them interested in whatever game or sport they are watching.

ENFJ

ENFJs often enjoy sports as a way to bring people together and have a good time as a group. They often enjoy being able to host events and have their loved ones join them to watch a game. ENFJs can also be relatively good at sports, and might have played them in high school. They likely will become less interested in playing team sports as they get older, but are probably still good at them. ENFJs enjoy anything that can help them feel connected to other people, and sports can often aid in this.

INFP

INFPs can sometimes dislike sports, simply because it becomes more about drama than skill. They will dislike feeling like someone is being left out, and become frustrated if they witness this. INFPs can sometimes feel like sports are a way to alienate and punish people for not living up to worldly expectations. Some INFPs who have grown up with sports as a positive thing in their life, might feel differently. If they have been surrounded by loved ones who simply enjoy rooting for a team together, it might make the INFP enjoy this aspect of sports.

ENFP

ENFPs rarely care much for sports, even though they night be good at them. They are naturally skilled people, and are usually intelligent enough to figure out just about anything they try. ENFPs might enjoy playing sports that they are naturally good at, simply because it feels nice to be able to impress others. ENFPs often prefer to follow their own passions though, and will ultimately break away from anything that feels forced. They might enjoy being able to connect with people while watching some sort of sports event, but often do not like to do this on a weekly basis.

INTJ

INTJs will often enjoy the strategic elements in sports, and will take full advantage of this. Being able to predict their opponent’s moves by analyzing their actions, is very exciting for INTJs. There is a lot of problem solving and strategy that goes into most sports, and INTJs will often enjoy this aspect very much. They might even find themselves interested in fantasy drafts, as a way to showcase their analytical skills. There are also many impressive coaches in the sports world who are actually INTJs.

ENTJ

ENTJs often enjoy sports because of the ability to plan and strategize in order to achieve an ultimate goal. ENTJs see most things as a challenge, and will take on these difficulties without hesitation. Sports is just another skill to be mastered, and this is something ENTJs truly enjoy. ENTJs can often make excellent team coaches, since they are great at coming up with a good game plan, as well as bringing together a group. ENTJs often enjoy many different aspects that are tied to sports, and rarely do they feel averse to them.

INTP

INTPs can go either way when it comes to sports, they either love them or hate them. Some INTPs who have a negative history attached to sports, will feel very averse to it. If they don’t have a positive childhood attachment to sports the INTP might feel a strong dislike for the way it can alienate people. Some INTPs however, enjoy the strategic elements of sports. They might actually enjoy being able to plan out different approaches in order to predict their opponent’s actions. INTPs are often skilled at anything they set their minds to, but are usually best behind the scenes. This often makes INTPs excellent at creating great game plans, and might cause them to enjoy partaking in fantasy drafts.

ENTP

ENTPs often enjoy participating in many different things, and dislike feeling like they have missed out on something. ENTPs will usually bounce around and try different sports before they find one that they actually enjoy. Oftentimes they might not even decide to continue with any of the sports that they participate in. ENTPs might find that they are more interested in the behind the scenes aspects of sports, and enjoy being able to make bets with their friends. Being able to predict who will win, is definitely satisfactory for ENTPs. Their ability to plan things out strategically, also makes ENTPs into excellent coaches.

ISTJ

ISTJs often enjoy sports, especially if they were raised in a household that participated in them. ISTJs might enjoy being able to relax and watch a game with their loved ones, or even by themselves. Sports can often hold positive memories for the ISTJ, which will cause them to enjoy continuing these traditions. ISTJs are often great at strategic planning as well, which might make them good coaches. They enjoy holding onto traditions, and will be especially drawn to sports that have positive memories attached to them.

ESTJ

ESTJs are often very interested in sports, especially if they have positive childhood memories attached to them. They enjoy being able to connect with loved ones via a shared love for team sports. They will often make excellent coaches, since ESTJs are natural leaders who enjoy bringing people together. ESTJs are not afraid to crack the whip when they have to, which also makes them excellent coaches. They often enjoy being coaches for children’s sports, since it helps them feel like they are an important member of the community.

ISFJs are surprisingly skilled at sports in most cases, especially if they grew up in a sports centered household. ISFJs enjoy being able to impress people with their skills and will often work hard to become even better. They might not enjoy the attention though, and prefer to be more modest about their abilities. ISFJs who do not play sports, often enjoy being able to connect with their loved ones through sports. Being able to sit down with the family and watch a game together, is truly enjoyable for most ISFJs.

ESFJs will often enjoy sports if they were raised in a sports centered household. If they feel connected to their past through certain team sports, then they will certainly enjoy this. They love feeling like they are an important member of a team, and will often do their best to impress others during games. ESFJs who do not enjoy playing sports, will often enjoy being able to connect with loved ones through sports. Hosting a sports watch event is something that ESFJs will often take advantage of. They enjoy being able to play the good host, and will love bringing their family and loved ones together. Some ESFJs who dislike sports, will still show an interest simply because their loved ones enjoy them.
